Push Play for the New Year

Going into the new year, I wanted to introduce you to a band that you may or may not have heard of, but it's worth the listen. The band, Push Play from Long Island, NY has been on tour since the fall and have been a band for over 2 years now. These guys are very talented, so I wanted to interview them with a few quick questions that I could post for the end the year. As they have been so busy being on tour, their answers are very simple, sweet, and to the point - which gives you just enough time to read the entire interview before you go out to celebrate New Year's Eve!

What is your favorite song to perform from the album, Deserted?
The Life and There She Goes Again

Is there any song of yours that is so complex that it was really challenging to record and is equally challenging to perform live?
Here Without You

Is there a certain subject that each of you like to write about? What, if any subjects are hard to write about?
We enjoy writing about relationships and find it difficult to write about the sweet stuff – we don't like that.

Is it easier writing a song on your own and then bringing it to the rest of the band to see what ideas they have or collaborating from the very beginning?
Generally CJ will write the songs and bring it to the band.

Tell me how the album Deserted is different from FOUND (Spring 2009) for each of you personally.
We all feel FOUND is far superior since we went to the top producers and mixers in the world. Deserted was done by CJ in his basement.

Did you guys immediately come up with the name Push Play or were there other options?
We were in Derek's new car just trying to think of a name and decided to put music on. Someone said just "push play" and thought that was a great name!

Whose idea was it to record and post up web videos on your official website?
CJ's mom, who is our manager.

Is there anything that you wish you knew about the music industry before you got into it?

We didn't realized how competitive it was.

What did you learn from your experience opening for Miley Cyrus?
We learned how professional things can be.

Which holiday song was your favorite to record for your holiday album?
Stay Here.

Walk us through Thanksgiving Day at the Macy's Parade.
Got there at 8am and was immediately escorted to a bus where we met with Varsity FanClub. We drank hot chocolate while waiting on the bus until it was our turn to get onto the float. Once we got on the float, we thought we were warm, but halfway through our feet and toes were frozen. It was the greatest experience of all time being able to a part of history.

Describe the day being signed with Jason Morey.
We actually didn't sign with Jason Morey, people have that misconception. Jason was interested in working with us. He is a part of the management team with CJ's mom and is working toward making things happen.

What has been the craziest part of the tour so far?
Traveling. It is hard sometimes being on the bus so long.

Tell me more about what you guys are doing with Dosomething.org.
Literally trying to trying to make a difference in the world . We wanted to join forced with them to motivate teens to do something to help society.

What are some goals that Push Play wants to accomplish in 2009?
We want to play in over 1000 clubs and really get things going.

Say Hello to Savannah Outen

Sixteen year old, Savannah Outen quickly became a YouTube star after she created her account in 2007, singing her own songs as well as covers. Savannah, who is originally from Portland Oregon, recently joined the rising Nickelodeon stars and siblings Nat and Alex Wolff of The Naked Brothers Band on tour. You can hear her single “Goodbyes” on the top of the Radio Disney charts or buy the song on I-Tunes.

How did you spend your 16th birthday (October 14)?
My 2 best friends flew in for my very first concert in NJ on October 11th. We spent the day before my birthday in NY. On my actual birthday, me and my family and friends went out and it was a lot of fun.

Is anybody else in your family musically talented?
My dad is not musical whatsoever. My mom plays the violin, so I think that’s where I get it from. I joke with my dad and say, “Yep, I got my singing from you.”

Do you play any instruments besides the guitar?
No, I don’t right now but I really want to learn how to play the drums. Hopefully in the near future I will be able to play. I actually asked for a small drum set for Christmas so we will see if I get it.

What has been your hardest goodbye in life?
One of my hardest goodbyes…I went to LA all summer one time and it was hard because I wasn’t going to see any of my friends for 3 months but at the same time I was going there for my career so it was all good.

How did you decide to pick the first song that you would cover on YouTube?
I had just seen the movie, “Dreamgirls” and I really loved the song, “Listen.” So my dad recorded me singing the song and they found out about YouTube so we decided to post it so I could create a fan base. We posted that and people started writing saying I should post more and now I have over 30 videos posted.

What has been your favorite song to cover on youtube? My personal favorite is Demi Lovato’s “Don’t Forget.” (Check it out here.)
Thank you! My favorite song to cover so far has been “Crush” by David Archuleta. I am a huge fan of David. Another favorite of mine is “Tattoo” by Jordin Sparks.

Which song has been the most challenging to cover?
I would have to say “Listen” because that is a hard song to sing! There are so many different levels to that song.

What song would you really like to cover in the future?
I really want to cover “Love Story” by Taylor Swift. She is so talented and she is an amazing songwriter.

Which city has been the most exciting to visit while you have been promoting your music?
Definitely Chicago. I had the most fun time in Chicago. They have amazing shopping areas. The House of Blues there is so beautiful. It was a lot of fun. The crowds there were really great.

Which one of your musical influences would you like to sing a duet with?
I would love to sing a duet with Celine Dion or Aly & AJ. I love them so much, they are so talented. Aly & AJ actually invited me to play guitar so that is exciting.

Do you remember the first time you heard your song on the radio?
Yes! Actually my dad heard it first and called me up. He said, “I just heard your song on the radio!” I was freaking out when my parents told me about it. Finally I heard it in the car with my best friend and we were so excited. My mom caught the reaction on video tape so it was really cool.

Tell me your favorite moment traveling with Nat & Alex of the Naked Brothers Band.
We played rock band a lot at the hotel in Chicago and that was a lot of fun. Also, when we went out to dinner one time…Alex who is so wild and crazy, started looking at everyone’s checks, people he didn‘t even know. That was funny. Nat kept spilling his drinks too. It was just a lot of fun.

What stage are you at putting your debut album together and can you describe the sound of the album?
Right now we are just recording and writing and we have about 6 songs completed. We are shooting for a mid 2009 release but we will see. It is pretty much pop-rock. I want to have a really cool title for the album but we haven’t gotten that far yet.

Desperate Housewives - New Episodes Air January 2009

Terminator: SCC - Earthlings Welcome Here

Riley: You’re so lucky that your mom is home schooling you.
John: Yeah, it’s been awesome.

My feelings on Sarah going to a UFO convention for answers are the same feelings that John had about it. Did anybody else think that there was not enough of John in this episode? The way that Jesse and Riley met was shown but Jesse’s purpose for bringing Riley back has not been completely spelled out so I like that there is finally at least progress in that storyline. When Jesse smacked Riley later on in the episode, I understood why she did what she did but since I am not a fan of Jesse just the act of hitting Riley made me dislike her even more. Although Riley needs to really get a grip because I wouldn’t put it past Jesse to get rid of Riley if she doesn’t get her act together. It was a pretty comedic moment when Cameron talked about how she was thinking of getting a tattoo of a tiger or a wolf. As much as this episode was good, I really was not thrilled with almost an entire episode of Sarah with “Abraham” figuring out what these 3 dots mean. Is it bad if I don’t even care anymore what these 3 dots mean? Ellison and Catherine’s storyline is being put together quicker, so if everything connects then let’s find out why at least one of the dots is significant. Although I was screaming at the TV right before “Abraham” was killed and the way that Sarah found her way to where “Abraham’ worked was great. The second season started off very strong, but a few episodes back it started to slow down and drag out the story lines. Then we had a nice filler episode and it just still has seemed very slow lately. I have enjoyed all of the episodes (thankfully) but I want more action, more excitement, (more Brian Austin Green). The background music for this episode was amazing.

Chuck - Chuck vs. Santa Claus

Ellie: A lot of people get by with 9 toes.
Jeff: I’m getting by fine with just 8.

Morgan brings the first major laugh in the show with what he is wearing and asking Chuck if he looked like an adult. Captain Awesome buying his own gift that will be from his fiancé is hilarious since it was somewhat unexpected from him. The introduction was perfect, one of the most if not the most entertaining intros this season. I love how Big Mike crouched down and let Chuck run things once everyone saw Ned with the gun. I laughed when Casey said he missed all the fun when he stepped out of work once and then again when Casey said that he was on gift wrap duty. It was fun to see Ned as a character that is a real guy who really does not know what he is doing and not one of those complicated guys holding a place up. When Casey was shot, I laughed and thought, “poor Casey.” How incredibly hilarious was it when everyone called their loved ones and Lester called a love chat line? I am still laughing about that. Having Big Mike think about customers coming to the store more than the safety of his staff at such a moment was so funny. The scene where Ned lets two hostages go was one of the funniest in this episode. We all knew that something was going to happen after Casey & Sarah left but what unfolded was even better than what I could have thought would have happened. I love how Captain Awesome was talking about being bold and then made Lester be the “sacrificial lamb.” The way that Chuck handled Fulcrum was better than he would have ever handled it before his intersect days. When Chuck sees Sarah shoot Fulcrum, that sucks because she was protecting him but he does not see it that way, as any normal person would not at first. This was one of my favorite episodes this season and is definitely a favorite Christmas episode of mine in TV in general.

One Tree Hill - Things A Mamma Don’t Know Airs Jan 5, 2009

Heroes - Dual

Tracy: Sorry, I’ve got plans for this little piece of paper, Pikachu.

Sylar’s opening monologue was one of my favorites. I was so thrilled that we got back to Sylar’s evil side, is that bad? Haha. I loved Sylar’s little psychological game, locking Claire, HRG, Angela, and Meredith in. Zachary’s performance throughout this entire episode was beyond phenomenal. I thought that the soldier was going to play a bigger part, so the fact that he was killed so quickly was actually kind of funny. Ando’s power is ridiculously amazing. As much as I was excited that Ando was injecting himself to get a power, I was very nervous about if the future (him killing Hiro) would still play out. Ando, Matt, and Daphne are great together, so entertaining. Only time will tell. Hiro punching Tracy was just about the funniest thing that Hiro has ever done. When Peter was injecting himself, I was thinking, “No! Take it! No! Take it” going back and forth, and I still do not know how I feel about him taking it. So I know that Nathan has turned on Peter but I really do not think that Nathan would leave Peter to die or turn him in (in volume 4) but only time will tell. Dare I say this could be one of my favorite episodes this season? Jeph Loeb, you are amazing and we will miss you. The promo for Volume 4 looks incredible and I am so psyched for Heroes to return in February!

Pushing Daisies - The Norwegians

Emerson: Oh, look at that. A dumb idea just found a friend.

Everything about the introduction was perfect, I loved it a lot. Chuck and Ned rubbing Emerson’s hands was just about the funniest thing! When Emerson told Vivian to stop looking for Dwight, I knew it wouldn’t just end like that. The introduction of the Norwegians was very entertaining! It was great to see Olive standing up for herself and wanting to be in with what investigations Chuck, Ned, and Emerson were solving. I wouldn’t put it past her to want to be part of a group so badly that she would join the Norwegians. Although I was up in the air about whether she would play both sides, so since she ended up doing that, I was glad. It was only a matter of time before Lily had to fight to keep what she did secret, trying to get Vivian to stop the investigation. Why both of the coffins were empty was a great twist. Ned saying that it isn’t what it looks like when Olive walks in on him and her saying exactly what he was up to was very humorous. It did not seem like a mystery when figuring out who saved Ned and Olive when they were hanging from the cliff, although to now know that it was Ned‘s dad is even better. Chuck walking into the Pie Hole with the Norwegians standing right there was such a close call, I loved it! Ned’s dad being the one who covered everything up was the icing on the cake for this episode. This entire episode was full of adventure and suspense, I loved it. It was one of my favorite episode this season.

Ghost Whisperer Spirit Guide Signing

Today I went to Barnes and Noble at The Grove in LA to meet the cast of Ghost Whisperer (minus the star, Jennifer Love Hewitt) as they signed copies of Ghost Whisperer: Spirit Guide.

Kim Moses, Ian Sander, P.K. Simonds, David Conrad, Jamie Kennedy, Camryn Manheim & Christoph Sanders were all scheduled to attend.

The event only lasted one hour, but since I was first in line, I was not all that concerned about the time. Everyone was very nice and can I just say that Camryn Manheim is just so beautiful!

Here are some photos from the event:

Desperate Housewives - A Vision’s Just a Vision

Tom: Do you know what I would give to date a 17 year old?
Lynette: Ok, we’re going to talk about that later.

The opening of the show was very well done. I really hope that Porter does not suffer the consequences for someone else’s mistake that cost people to die. How hilarious was Porter’s alibi?! He is just the funniest thing. I loved that he thought what was his confession was an alibi. Lynette talking to Porter’s lawyer and saying that he was her lawyer was pretty humorous. We all knew that Lynette gave Ann a lot of money to get out of town but I cannot believe the amount of money that she gave her! That was not smart on Lynette’s part. Glad that Lynette put the gun back in Edie’s house but I just hope nothing comes to bite them in the butt. Ann’s husband threatening Porter was really sad to watch but I hope that Porter tells Lynette what he said so she can deal with him. The scene at the courthouse with Preston and the rents was hilarious. Lynette trying to hide what she did by letting Preston go in as Porter and not filling Tom in was shady. I cannot wait to see the result of all of this! One of my favorite little moments was when Carlos was talking to Bree and Susan at his party about how patient Gabby has been and then Gabby came in with her moron line! I am so glad that Carlos can really see, understand and appreciate how well Gabby has taken care of the family since he went blind. The dress that Carlos bought Gabby after selling his baseball was so sweet. Even if it meant selling what meant most to them, Gabby did what she thought was best for the family and that is why I really love Gabby. As shallow as she may seem sometimes (not as much anymore compared to previous seasons), she is an extremely smart and responsible person deep down. Bree wanting to at least show tolerance in Andrew’s relationship with Alex is a big step for her so I am proud of her…even if she has to invite Bob and Lee to do it. The way that dinner played out when Bree found out about Alex’s secret, was pretty entertaining. In the end, I am glad that Andrew was satisfied with Bree for really looking out for him when it came to his relationship. Susan acting all jolly for her son when she arrived at the bowling ally was the best Susan moment in this episode. Gosh I love Susan. How long will it take Susan and Mike to get back together? Tick, tock, tick, tock. Dave has got issues. That is all I have to say about that. This episode was very entertaining, I loved every bit of it. Also, after you think about how the title of this episode effects all of the characters, you appreciate it so much more, so just think about that, especially in this episode.

Terminator: SCC - Alpine Fields

Ann: I thought crisis was supposed to bring a family closer.
Sarah: Don’t confuse close with happy.

Sarah telling the truth to the Fields’ was pretty funny. It was also very funny that the Fields’ dog was named Charles Barkley. The Fields’ mom has nerve calling Sarah’s son a future delinquent, although I laughed when the daughter said that Sarah was beyond Dr. Phil. Being that this episode dwells into 6 months earlier, it makes me wonder what was going on six month ago that we saw on screen, so I can tie in when exactly all of this happened. Although I am too lazy to think back past episode sand to that. Anyway, I am glad that the daughter decided to tell Sarah what her dad was up to. Of course someone has to be the one to create chaos but both the father and the mother were this time. Though the mother cause her husband and her friend to die. The moment that Derek met Jesse was nice to finally see although it was less exciting than I thought it would be. Going to the future and having Sidney tell Derek and Jesse that they were already infected was pretty intense. That was so funny when Cameron knocked out Roger, not knowing that he was human, and then said “my mistake.” I wonder how the daughter feels, having learned all of this about her dad’s connection to skynet and such and then having to deliver her baby sister. Oh wow, and then her mother dies so now she has to raise her sister. That is a lot to handle! She seems to be holding over well though. This episode was great.

Chuck - Chuck vs. DeLorean

Chuck: Hi, I’d like to report a stolen 81 DeLorean. License plate is D-E-M-O-R-G-A-N. No this is not a prank call.

For Chuck not to know what Sarah is up to on her personal day and Casey knowing is yet another hilarious set up for an episode. Morgan trying to say, “We are living the dream” to Anna was also very hilarious. That was a great introduction, both for Chuck to Sarah’s dad and into the episode altogether. I do not like that Sarah’s dad is okay with bringing Chuck down into what he is doing. That is after all what it seemed like after Chuck & Sarah helped him out push up the “meeting.” The whole setup was a good try but the mission accomplished was far from accomplished. Once they really did solve the mission, they were better off of course. It was really funny when Chuck was reporting Morgan’s car as stolen. It was generous of Casey to request to lower the charges for Sarah’s dad. Since Sarah does not know that her dad wasn’t caught by the police, it makes me wonder if we will see him again. Overall this was a pretty decent episode.

Heroes - Our Father

Ando: I like teleporting better. Less windy.

I loved watching Claire & 10 year old Hiro interact. Poor Hiro doesn’t understand English and Claire just looked at him as clueless as ever. It was great to see Hiro look back at his young self as he thought he was young himself at the time. That was a good line, “Should I stay with me or should I stay with you?” It only makes sense that Hiro’s mom would be a hero, although to find out that she is a healer (and can‘t even heal herself) is sad. When Hiro & Claire realized what they had to do, I loved how they spoke at the same time. I do not think that Hiro’s dad thought that Hiro was a chef but maybe we will find out next week what he thinks. When Sylar said he had a whole new list of heroes, my first thought was “Oh crap.” Being a human lie detector is one of the coolest and one of the most heartbreaking powers ever. How funny was it when Sue’s co-workers came in and Sylar said, “Cake?” Let’s see where this new list of heroes takes him. I am unsure if it hasn’t hit me that Elle is gone or if I have a feeling that she is not gone. Whoever Ali Larter is playing right now is extremely boring and she does not even seem like a main part of the storyline anymore. I am okay with her not being a main part of the story but her character is nothing but fluff right now so I would like to get more background on her. I am not sure how I feel about Nathan taking over Pinehearst. It could go well, it could be bad. I love the shot where both Hiros push their glasses up at the same time. I knew HRG wouldn’t fall for Claire’s lie. Nice try Bonnie. Although I am glad that he is listening to Claire. When Hiro’s mom said, “Something about you is very familiar” I thought “uh oh” and then when Hiro said “yes” after she asked if she knew him, my “uh oh” grew even louder. When Hiro said, “You’re my mommy” I knew it was done. The entire time that Hiro’s mom and Hiro are talking, I was just hoping that Hiro’s dad wouldn’t come into the room. Once the cover of the 9th Wonder was shown, it made me think that if Hiro is lost in time, that must mean that Claire will be too. But then I could not believe that Arthur came to take the catalyst out of Hiro and Hiro’s power and then sent Claire back to the present. Wouldn’t it have been smarter to keep Claire back in time too? I was not happy that Peter took so long to shoot Arthur. That was funny when Sylar said, “No place I’d rather be than with family.” It is good to know that Sylar is not really related to the Petrellis, so now the search begins yet again for his real parents. Now look at what Mohinder has made out of the solider. Only time will tell where this leads. This entire episode was amazing. I am extremely excited for the next episode.

Samantha Who? - New Episodes Air January 2009

Privileged - All About the Ripple Effect

Megan’s Dad: If you can’t forgive her, I don‘t want you to forgive me.

The episode started off great. I didn’t really laugh until Megan went to the salon to find Lily and she found out that she was on a honeymoon. You can tell that Megan had mixed feelings on seeing her mother from the moment that she saw her mother but the real question to ask was how she would handle her mother being in town. Playing nice for her father will only go so far so I am glad that she ended up calling her mother to go out. Sage is always trying to beat somebody at their own game, she is a mess. That was so funny when Louis asked if the girls were medicated. I am glad that Megan’s mom actually gave her an idea for her book. As much as I am counting down the day until Megan and Charlie get together, Will and Megan are very good together. So I completely love how Sage helped Rose get her man and vice versa. That was adorable. Overall the episode was mediocre.

House - Joy to the World

House: If I wanted gifts, I would just look deep into my patients' eyes and act like you. "Oh, I'm so sorry you're dying, Mrs. Moron. Of course I'll sleep with you. What I lack in skill, I can make up for in…"

I always love the introductions to House also this one was pretty boring. I did enjoy the school choir singing though. I loved how Kutner said, “Can you really put a price tag on screwing with people?” The talk that House and Wilson had in the cafeteria was very entertaining to say the least. I love when Wilson analyzes House and I love the reactions that House gives afterwards. I am really glad that 13 talked Janice and Foreman into working with each other again. One of the funniest parts was when House was trying to be polite to the patient, screwed up, and then said, “I was doing so well.” House telling the teen couple that the girl was having a virgin birth (during Christmas time) was just about the funniest thing. Then when the patient who thought that she wasn’t an idiot sprayed her inhaler on her neck, I could not stop laughing in disbelief. Man, there were so many hilarious moments. I was surprised that the main patient whose name escapes me was pregnant. Although in the end, when she thought that her baby had died and Cuddy went to find the baby, who was alive, that was a very emotional touch to the episode. I really enjoyed this episode moreso because of the comedy than the actual storyline for the episode.

Pushing Daisies - The Legend of Merle McQuoddy

Ned: No harm in double bagging it ay?

When Ned and Emerson go to Mrs. McQuoddy for answers, I love the effects they put on her for her death. For Chuck’s dad to try and make a deal with Ned and expecting Ned to to accept never seeing Chuck again is crazy. I love how Olive plays detective and tries to solve mysteries with Emerson, Ned, and Chuck. How funny was it when Olive said “boo yah” and bounced off of Emerson?! The fight between Ned and Chuck’s dad at the Pie Hole was pretty intense! Chuck’s dad trying to get Chuck to pick him over Ned and his lifestyle and not just be one happy civilized family following the rules to live semi freely is not fun to see. I do not like Chuck’s dad. When Olive said, “You didn’t hear it from me” it was pretty cute. Haha, better to have loved and lost than to be you is the cruelest thing to say but the most humorous thing to hear. It was hilarious when Emerson and Olive both said, “Oh hell no” at the same time, Olive catching onto Emerson‘s style. Emerson and Olive really carried this episode, it was so entertaining to watch them. The narration over the conclusion of the episode was quite fun to listen to. Overall, this was a very fun episode to watch.

Ugly Betty - New Episodes Air January 2009

The Office - Moroccan Christmas

Michael: So this is what everyday would have been like if you hadn’t left India.

The cold open was one of the most entertaining of the season so far. Phyllis had a lot of spunk in this episode. I am not just talking about her attitude towards Angela in this episode (which was all of a sudden brought to the forefront, a little bit too boldly?). I loved all of Phyllis’s facial expressions. The role reversal with Phyllis and Angela as far as power over each other is concerned, was fabulous. Well, I did not expect the majority of the episode to revolve around Meredith and her alcoholism. While Meredith and her drinking issues are entertaining, I do not really care for it to be the main part of an entire episode. So I will focus on what I did like...How funny was it when the guys were discussing when they should do the intervention?! Later on...Dwight has got the right idea, he’s making a profit and I’d be right there with him. It was so great to see how much Michael genuinely cared about Meredith’s drinking problem. He means well, he does. It was so entertaining to see how he led the (quick) intervention and literally dragged Meredith in the rehab. It was so funny that Michael said, “I have a deposit’ when he brought Meredith to rehab. Creed is so funny! I want to know how he could get a permit for what they wanted in an hour. Or do I? The funniest part of this episode was when Michael threw the pen at Toby’s head after he asked Toby to write down the number of the rehab center. The next extremely hilarious part was Toby’s reaction after he bought the unicorn doll off of Daryl and realized it was black after the fact! Ha ha ha! Towards the end, I love watching Michael compare helping Meredith hitting rock bottom to what he did with Jan. The ending of this episode was the best close this season. Overall, I just barely enjoyed this episode.

Lipstick Jungle - Ch 18: Indecent Exposure

Victory: I’m going to ask him to marry me.

Shane getting invited to tour with Natasha Bedingfield herself is a great opportunity career wise but of course the way that Wendy responded about what was best for the family was expected. I honestly think that Wendy and Shane will separate and soon after get divorced in the end. It would not surprise me and it may be what is best for them. Although I could also see them working things out (over a long period of time). Only time will tell what happens. I felt so bad for Victory when she saw Joe while she was in her meeting. You can tell that she still really loves him, really wanted to be with him. Victory opening up to Joe towards the end was so amazing. The ending of this episode gives me hope for them! The conflict of Victory being nude for her own line is a very comedic storyline that I loved to see play out. In the end, I am glad that she let Kirby shoot her, it will help the line a lot. Regarding Nico and Kirby, I am so glad with the way that they have been handling the breakup. They are very cordial, more friendly about everything than I thought. Whether Nico actually does have a child or not, I am pretty sure that she will be happy in the end. Do not confuse satisfied with happy. I am confused as to the direction the writers are taking Nico and Griffin. Maybe I am looking into it too much but if they end up together or just become closer friends, it will be great for Nico. I loved this episode and I am so pumped for the next episode!

Demi Lovato at The Wiltern

Last night I went to a concert. Demi Lovato played at The Wiltern here in LA. KSM and Honor Society were the opening acts. Both bands were great. It was all spur of the moment really. I woke up and I was going to go to the movies but then I realized that I wanted to do something more fun. So I went online to see what concerts were playing, and Demi’s name stood out. I’ve heard a song or two of hers before but I couldn’t tell you which ones. Before I went to the concert, I would not have considered myself a fan, simply because I did not know anything about her or any of her songs. After the concert, I can definitely say that I am a fan of her music. She ripped it on stage. The girl can sing! She has amazing stage presence. She works the stage like the super star that she is. I would love to see her again in concert…next time I will know all of her music. There is a bit of a Team Demi vs. Team Miley fan base (like in the late 90s when it was Britney or Christina). I love Miley but I love Demi more! Being that it was so spur of the moment, I got a mezzanine seat, so the pictures are not fabulous but I am still satisfied!

Watch Demi sing the Star Spangled Banner:

YouTube Video of the Week

New Director for New Moon

The sequel to Twilight, New Moon will have a new director come time to start filming. Being that I was not a huge fan of Catherine Hardwicke's work with Twilight, I am satisfied with this news (mainly because of the vision). It was great to have her part of the Twilight phenomenon but the time has come for someone else to take on the role of director for the next film. Now we are all just waiting to hear who Summit picks as the new director. We all have high hopes but only time will tell.

TV Week In Review

*Reviews May Contain Spoilers*

Desperate Housewives - Me & My Town

Bree: Snoring is too mild a word for what you are doing. Imagine a terrified elephant summoning his herd.

I love Mary Alice's voice over introduction for Gabby. I loved the imagery at the hospital showing the effects of the fire. I thought that Dave’s mindset was that of feeling guilty for killing 6 people but guilt usually leads to doing the right thing in the end so I am very upset with the fact that he tells the police in the end that Porter was involved in the fire. Susan and Katherine meeting at the hotel was hilarious. Susan is so…Susan. Got to love her. I expected better from Katherine - at least when it comes to her friendship with Susan. The way that Susan finds out is not a way that anyone would want to find out that their friend is dating their ex. Given the situation (which Bree explains when she tells Susan about herself) I am glad that Susan is okay with the situation in the end. Edie saying that her first thought was the same as Gabby’s when it comes to her looks was one of the most funniest lines in this episode. Gabby’s scene with the kids, trying to eat healthy was very entertaining because it is so relatable. Especially when she said “You with the head, you ruined me” that was hysterical! As ironic as it was for Edie to say that she has a really good sense of character when she is married to Dave, I still agree that she does have a good sense of character. She is just ignorant to Dave’s hidden agenda because she does not seem to worry about what he is up to. I can understand Lynette wanting to help Porter’s gf but giving her all of that money is unnecessary. I am livid that there is no baby! How is Lynette going to tell Porter? Lynette, I lover her but I was upset with her for not telling Porter the truth about Ann after her little honesty pact she created. Gabby working out in the hospital and then trying to push back the surgery for Carlos to see again was just so ludicrous. Even though she has insecurities, she needs to get over the fact that she is not a model anymore and Carlos loves her the way that she is. One of the things that I am very excited about seeing next week is how well Carlos’ surgery goes. Orson putting a little something, something in Bree’s drink and having her all sleepy and crazy at her demo the next day was very entertaining. The fact that a triple espresso still did not help her at the demo and when she shouted, “Who wants to be my daughter?” were even more hysterical. My favorite scene was Bree’s at the demo hands down. The ending was quite clever and it will be extremely interesting to see Bree’s reaction when she finds out that her son has moved in with his boyfriend. DH is always so juicy. I love it!

Terminator: SCC - Self Made Man

Riley: I thought that since you’re a weirdo, you’d get me.

The 1920’s introduction was fun to watch. Though the transition from the introduction to going to the Connors could have been better. The second thing I wondered was who Cameron was talking to. The background music made it seem so mysterious, so I am assuming this guy is somewhat important. Time wise I am very confused that there is a terminator in the 1920s. As soon as I heard Riley’s voice, I thought “This is a trap!” When it did not seem to be an obvious one, I was wondering if she called him just to get him to not do something else, to distract him. Now that I know that she is not just a simple teenage girl from the present, I find myself thinking everything over more. Anyway, throughout the episode, I seemed to tune in and out. It was pretty uninteresting, surprisingly. I love the whole 1920s vibe but maybe because it just seemed so random and not connected to the main story in the way that I would have liked to have seen…it was not all that interesting to me. I did think that when Cameron described how time and the sky connect, that was great. I would love to go more in depth for this episode but I really need to watch it again because it just went over my head.

Chuck - Chuck vs. the Sensei

Captain Awesome: Hey Lester, you’ve seen Chuck?
Lester: Maybe.
Captain Awesome: So is he around?
Lester: Ahh, he could be.
Captain Awesome: Can you find him for me?
Lester: Yeah, sure I could but…wouldn’t it be more fulfilling if you did it yourself?

It looks like Jill has left the picture for good, which is good. She was no good for Chuck. The whole “mentor turning to the dark side” is pretty played out on TV but I can led it slide thanks to A) the humor in this show and B) the side story at Buy More and Ellie‘s engagement side story. Mrs. Awesome was really taking over every aspect of the wedding, it truly is ridiculous. I feel bad for anyone in that situation in real life. Morgan turning the Buy More Employee of the Month contest into getting the lowest score cards was so incredibly entertaining to see played out. Chuck trying to save the day on his own never leads to anything good, so it was interesting to see what would unfold. There was lots of action. Going back to Buy More, once the new contest was figured out and they had to get their scores up, it was hilarious to see all of them running around the store for good scores. Seeing Jeff blow up was just about the funniest thing in this episode. I love it! I go on hulu.com and go just to that part and play it over and over. When Ellie stood up to Captain Awesome’s parents at dinner, I was so proud! I was also really happy when Chuck found a way to get out of the handcuff at Orange, Orange. Again, after that bit there was lots of action. The end really made m interested in seeing who will play Chuck & Ellie’s dad and how his character will be personality wise. Only time will tell!

One Tree Hill - Things A Mamma Don’t Know Airs Jan 5, 2009

Heroes - Ch 10: The Eclipse Part 2

Elle: You’re hurting me.
Sylar: I know.

I love how Peter was trying to run to help his brother and the Haitian wanted to run away from his. “Claire better be okay” was my first thought when she was shown. I love seeing Elle and Sylar together although based on the ending, I am unsure if we will be seeing them together anymore. Being powerless in one aspect of a hero’s life does not mean a hero is vulnerable in all aspects of their life, although on so many levels it does. So that was an interesting line that Arthur said. Suresh has got some fight! I did not know he had all of that fight in him. Well, I did but it was different to see it played out. I liked that. I know Hiro’s 10 year old self is thrilled has a credit card! Although seeing the past events in comic form at 10 years old, I would not want to grow up either. Yikes, that is scary to see at 10 years old. When HRG slit Sylar’s throat, I was wondering why HRG does not get revenge later and be by Claire’s side when she really needs him. That really bothers me. Anyway, I was wondering why the Haitian’s brother kept thinking that he was God. Although did he really think that he was the only one on earth with the power to heal? Haha. I am rather unsure how the Haitian killed his brother exactly. Although it is good to know that is one less thing to think about. The scene at Claire’s place was a thrill. It was a relief when Hiro showed up. Sylar giving into his power and killing Elle was not a shocker but it was still pretty crazy to know that it happened. I want to know if Hiro brought Claire to see what happened 16 years ago or to change what happened.

Samantha Who? - The Park

Sam: I just really don’t want to think that hard about trash.

I loved it when Sam said “I don’t get to pick my memories.” That was such a comedic moment. It was interesting to see Todd tell Sam that she didn’t change for him when they were dating but now she is changing for her current boyfriend. I wonder if she will seriously think about that. Andrea’s storyline for her famous boyfriend is so shallow, so her, it’s pretty funny. For such a smart person, she sure is doing something one would think would be a waste of her time. Then again, this is Andrea we are talking about. She can make nothing into something - except being in her “boyfriend’s” entourage! Ha! That was hilarious. When Sam & Dena bumped into Willow, it was so funny that Sam tried to cover up her lie. When Sam was at dinner and eating the steak, that was pretty funny. Sam’s mom can say the most horrible things to Sam, but is always so incredibly funny. The conclusion with the girls on the bench at Sam’s park was great. I love the friendships among those 3 girls, it has tremendously grown since the Pilot. This episode was much more entertaining than last week.

Samantha Who? - The Family Vacation

Sam: I want to be dead inside.

Sam really was on the dating train, apparently. Todd’s little remark about giving nothing to a relationship was probably one of his best lines. I laughed through the rest of the show (a loud and silently) after Dena said “but now she’s dead, yay!” about her mother when she was talking about not being able to go on trips with Sam when they were younger. It was hilarious when Sam thought that the place they were staying at was a rest stop. Doesn’t Sam know that just when you decide to not look for a relationship, the guys seem to come along at that moment? Sam meeting her “first love” was so cute. Andrea trying to be part of the vacation really showed how invested Andrea is in the friendship…she has changed a lot since Sam’s amnesia too. Regina taking Andrea’s booze was quite humorous. Charades was fun to watch but did you catch Regina’s little dance when Andrea asked if she took her alcohol? Haha. The conclusion of this episode was pretty good. Overall, this episode did not disappoint & brought lots of laughs.

Privileged - All About Love, Actually

Megan: I am going to take two days off of your grounding if you promise to never bedazzle anything of mine ever again.

Cheating on a purse is more than “pretty genius.” I expected more of a reaction from Megan but I guess she did not want to make a scene. I was proud that Megan grounded Rose. I was even more proud of Laurel from stepping out of her “holier than though” state, dropping her pride, and going to meet up with Miles. I love how Rose is so invested in Megan’s relationships, or at least the gossip part. I think that was the main focus of this episode and that is why it was kind of boring to me. As much as I do not want Rose & Sage to get themselves in bad situations, it is so entertaining to watch. This week, since there was no situation that they had to get out of or fix, it was not all that exciting. Rose bedazzling Megan’s jeans was an “Oh no she didn’t” moment. That looked terrible. Eek. Sage is so funny, not remembering the staff guys’ correct name and telling him what his job is. Did you see how excited Rose was when she was introduced to Miles? That was quite humorous. The rest of this episode really is “all about love, actually” so there is not much to explain. It was an enjoyable episode but more in a laid back way, not so much an entertaining way. Next week looks exciting though.

House - Let Them Eat Cake

Wilson: Ask her out. It will cost the hospital a lot less.

The introductions are always written well. Though this one was very easy to figure out the outcome, so I was just waiting until it was over. I love that Cuddy is making House share his office. The games that people play. Haha. Going to 13, that was a pretty chilling memory to recall. The reality of her sickness plus the reality of her past is catching up to her. Anyway, the patient preaching exercise and then getting gastric bypass was very realistic although is not talked about a lot so it was good to see on screen. The fact that the patient is talking about being hypocritical when her situation of being hypocritical could have killed her, in no way compares to general, small ways of being hypocritical. I find it completely hysterical the situation that Kutner got himself into. Getting Chase & Cameron to play along with House and Kutner’s patient was so incredibly fun to watch. 13 getting to know the patient that she will become in 8-10 years was very touching. The background music was so fitting. That was so sweet of House to get Cuddy’s desk from med school. I thought the conclusion of the episode was great. This was not an exciting episode to watch, but every episode cannot be extra dramatic so it was nice to watch. I enjoyed it.

Pushing Daisies - Comfort Food

Olive: I am going to win that blue ribbon, wrap it around her neck, and strangle her with it.

When Chuck & Ned were at the graveyard, it looked like their jackets touched twice. Overlooking that, Chuck at first seemed a lot stronger than I thought she would be, about to talk to her dad for 30 seconds. Right before it cut to commercial, seeing Chuck go up to her dad, who was in a chair was quite a shocker. My initial thoughts are that Ned will of course feel empathetic and also be upset that someone died in Ned’s dad’s place…although how will he react that on screen? I want to see that. It is always entertaining to see Olive’s competitive side, so it was no different at the blue ribbon competition. Chuck feeling guilty about the death that she cause, even though he was going to kill her really makes me think about how I would feel in that situation. Hmm… Olive still proposing the idea of getting together with Ned was perfect. She never gives up. Got to give her credit for that. I knew who the killer was from the beginning, but watching Ned & Olive figure out the mystery was fun. I was surprised that Ned found out about Chuck’s dad so soon. Obviously things cannot be stretched out due to the cancellation but still, I thought Ned would find this out later. Ahh well, I have a lot to look forward to next week!

Ugly Betty - Bad Amanda

Amanda: Hi, I couldn’t help but notice you looking at us, and by us I mean me.

What the *%@$ is Betty wearing in the first scene? Wardrobe rally does go the extra mile in making her look ridiculous. If Amanda is not my favorite character, than I do not know who is. This girl, got to love her. When she said, “isn’t it?” the second time, it was just too funny. I was as bewildered by Wilhelmina as she was when she wondered why she said, “Top of te morning to you.” That is hilarious that Amanda claims a “bad Ronald” is taking Betty’s food! I can’t believe the guys stuck Amanda & Betty with the dinner bill. Good for nothing cheap losers. Betty’s idea to get rid of the check was swell. I absolutely loved the cameras focusing on the eyes and the sweat on Betty’s face. So glad that Betty finally got fed up with Amanda and told her she needs to get her act together. The face that Betty made when Daniel was talking about Betty & Amanda going on a crazy adventure every week was the same face that I made, along with a huge laugh. I hope we get to see more of their crazy adventures. Seeing that Amanda got a second job was one of the smartest things Amanda has ever done, not only for Betty but for herself. Wilhelmina’s comment about the way Betty looks at a cheeseburger was her funniest line this episode.

The Office - The Surplus

Michael: I hate disappointing just one person. And I really hate disappointing everyone. But I love Burlington Coat Factory. You go in there with $645, you are literally a king.

Words cannot describe the feeling of hearing and seeing Michael ask Oscar to explain something to him like he is an 8 year old and then a 5 year old, basically admitting how stupid he is. Then to struggle saying the word, “axis” was just about the funniest thing! The face that Michael is making as Oscar is explaining the surplus to him, you can see that he is still struggling to understand! It is hilarious! Michael telling Toby that he was the silent killer and then Toby saying, “you’ll see” was just about the funniest thing!!! The face that Pam gave Jim when he didn’t agree with her was not a Pam face. It was too tough. What is wrong with Pam in this episode? She is so not Pam. That threat she made to Jim was not playful either. Andy must really love Angela, having made 8 deposits on his wedding. Pam wearing that lipstick and dumping the food Jim bought her was so out of character. I did not like that. Maybe if she had said, “hot tie guy” more playfully, like it was a game then it would have been more acceptable coming from her. When Michael was shaking his butt and Pam was cheering him on, that was my favorite Pam moment this episode. Dwight getting a German priest to marry him and Angela was quite funny and sad haha. Michael saying “is-you” instead of “issue” was so funny! When the security guard was checking out the copier machine and then the chair, made the comment about Pam’s chair, and the camera shot to Stanley….hilarious! I loved his facial expression! I feel bad for saying this but I was cracking up laughing When Michael was choking. Okay, so the scene towards the end with Michael explaining his decision of how he used the money was my favorite Michael scene in this episode. From him not knowing how to use the copier to saying “erkelonomically,” to pushing the chair down just in between 2 shots, to stopping the announcement once Oscar figures his plan out…every bit of it was hilarious. Actually, hilarious is an understatement. I have always been unsure of where Angela stands with Dwight and Andy but I am really unsure now. What’s up with Michael wearing his fur coat covered with the blood? He really is crazy enough to keep a coat covered in blood on him just to show off the coat on camera. I totally loved the way that this episode ended. I love Jim!

Lipstick Jungle - Ch 17: Bye, Bye Baby

Kirby: That’s a real job. Charlie’s a favor…he’s not my kid. He’s not even your kid. Nico, I’m not going to miss out on actual work so I can stay here and be a manny.

I can understand Nico wanting Kirby to bond with Charlie Jr. but she also needed to realize how out of the blue this was from his perspective too. I loved how Kirby said, “Dude, it’s nothing personal” to Charlie Jr. Nico trying to make a decision for Kirby about him taking the photography job that Victory offered was not cool. I agree 100% with what Kirby said to nico regarding his responsibility to Charlie vs. a job. Having Megan tell her parents where Charlie Jr. was, leading them to show up at Nico’s place to take the baby was the best thing that has happened for Nico in my eyes. If I were in her shoes, I would have asked Megan for her parents’ number in the very beginning. It is disappointing that Kirby and Nico broke up in the end but very realistic so I can accept it. The way that they both realized that they were both unhappy in the relationship, leading up to the breakup was great too. Although I am unsure if this is definitely it for Kirby on the show. Either way, I think I will be happy. Wendy arguing with her husband about career vs. family is one of their many arguments about this so I hope that they are able to get past it. I hope the movie that she is trying to make comes together well and is not ruined by her pal she is partnering with for this. Maddie getting more face time in this episode was fun to see. Her storyline was great and I am glad the way that Wendy handled it in the end - thanks to the talk that she had with Victory. Props to Victory for the way she talked to Wendy about Maddie. I was glad that Wendy helped Victory with her pitch and that her pitch went well! I enjoyed this episode very much, it was not very light hearted, and every line had significance. I am very much looking forward to the next episode.

Xmas Tree Lighting Take 2

I went to another Christmas Tree Lighting, this time it was at LA Live in Downtown LA.

I got to see Natalie Cole perform yet again! How lucky!

Adam Carolla hosted the show.

Britney Spears made a surprise appearance...when I say surprise, I mean anyone who didn't already hear the rumors of her appearance.

The whole event was extremly short but I enjoyed myself.

Alex M on the Holidays

Since I love Christmas so much, I decided that my interview for the week would consist of all holiday questions! I was able to ask Alex M from Laguna Beach (MTV) a few holiday questions that I am sure you will enjoy, so take a look:

1) What was your favorite part about Thanksgiving this year?

My favorite part of Thanksgiving was definitely being able to see all my friends who came home from school! Because Laguna is so small, it's so fun to go out. It's like having a high school reunion! I also love Thanksgiving food and helping cook with my family.

2) What is your best Thanksgiving memory?

My best Thanksgiving memory would definitely be the year my entire family got into a HUGE food fight! It was the end of the night and we were all so tired from cooking and my brothers had my dad on the floor squirting ketchup and mustard. One of my other brothers was throwing tortillas like frisbees. It was probably the most fun I ever had on a holiday!

3) What is your favorite food to eat at the Thanksgiving table?

My favorite food at the Thanksgiving table is definitely cream corn, stuffing and cranberry sauce! Yummmm.

4) When do you usually go Christmas shopping?

I usually go Christmas shopping in December. I'm kind of one of those people if I see something early I'll buy it and wait until Christmas but usually I'll do it in December.

5) Do you make your Christmas list year round or around the holiday?

I make my Christmas list just around the holiday. My dad and mom are too busy for me to tell them ahead of time. They would for sure forget...haha.

6) What do you really look forward to getting for Christmas this year?

This is probably the one year I feel like I really don't need anything... I mean we all know girls love clothes, so getting clothes or money is always nice but this year I really don't have anything specific in mind.

7) What is the best Christmas gift that you ever received?

The best Christmas gift I have ever received was the diamond tennis bracelet my brother and mom got me ... Still my all time favorite present.

8) What is the most unique/odd Christmas gift that you have gotten?

Ha I don't know if I can answer that one! haha

9) What is your favorite Christmas song/album?

Hands down Mariah Carey's Christmas album! I bring it out December 1st and don't take it out until Christmas is over! My favorite song is "All I Want For Christmas Is You." That's also my ring tone! I love the holidays!

10) What are your favorite Christmas themed movies/TV show episodes?

I grew up on all musicals so my favorite Christmas movies are "Meet Me in St Louis," "Miracle on 34th Street," "Heidi," and all the old movies. My mom and I watch all of them.
