White Collar Set Visit

Tomorrow, I will be in New York, on the set of the new USA original series, White Collar!

You can follow the live feed below that USA has set up for the set visit which will go live tomorrow morning at 9:00am. You can even sign up now to receive an email reminder to come back to the feed, right here.

Make sure to follow White Collar on Twitter and Hollywood the Write Way on Twitter.

White Collar is about the unlikely partnership of a con artist and an FBI agent who have been playing cat and mouse for years. Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer), a charming criminal mastermind, is finally caught by his nemesis, FBI Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay.)

When Neal escapes from a maximum-security prison to find his long-lost love, Peter nabs him once again. Rather than returning to jail, Neal suggests an alternate plan: He'll provide his criminal expertise to assist the Feds in catching other elusive criminals in exchange for his eventual freedom. Initially wary, Peter quickly finds that Neal provides insight and intuition that can't be found on the right side of the law.

White Collar premieres on USA Friday, October 23, 2009 at 10/9c.

Hydrovibe Has Nothing Left To Lose

The Los Angeles based rock band Hydrovibe will release their debut album "Nothing Left To Lose" this Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The album’s first single “Fame” is mixed by Kevin Churko, who recently received a Juno Award for his work on Ozzy Osbourne’s latest album “Black Rain.” You may have heard the band's music on the Saw III movie soundtrack or seen the music video for “Killer Inside” with Saw actress Shawnee Smith appearing as a guest vocalist.

The band’s Louisiana natives, vocalist Heather St. Marie and guitarist / vocalist Mat Dauzat joined forces early on and have performed with musicians Schuyler Fisk and Joshua Radin. Eliot Lorango is on bass and Philippe Mathys is on drums, and together, Hydrovibe has Nothing Left To Lose.

Nothing Left To Lose has 15 incredibly well written tracks that you will love. The songwriting is superb and if you are into mainstream rock and roll music, this is the album for you. The band is led by vocalist, Heather St. Marie who does not scream as much as I would have expected for a rock and roll album. That's a good thing. This is not your typical rock and roll band. The lyrics are so honest and have heavy meaning behind them and the emotions are portrayed so well through Heather St. Marie. The order of the tracks is also interesting as there is so much covered in each track! Each track has its own unique meaning. The album starts out with the song, "Fifteen Minutes" discussing fame and ends with the track, "Liberation" with few lyrics but fitting for closure of the album. While this is not the typical music I listen to, the lyrics will captivate you.

Track Listing:
1. Fifteen Minutes
2. Disconnect Me
3. Savior
4. Liberate
5. No Fury
6. Live Another Day
7. The Devil Comes Disguised as Friend
8. Shallow Grave
9. Reborn
10. Suture
11. Fame
12. Contagious
13. Evil Side
14. Nothing Left to Lose
15. Liberation

Reviews for US of Tara Season 1 Episodes 1-4

As mentioned in an earlier post, I will be reviewing Season 1 of United States of Tara, episode by episode each week. It fills in the empty space between now and the Season 1 DVD release & Season 2 premiere. I have reviewed episodes 1-4 so far.

Check it out here.

Music To Know: Joshua Radin

If you watched Ellen DeGeneres last season then you have heard of Joshua Radin, as he performed at her wedding and performed on her show! He also has the lead song in the new Fox Searchlight hit, "Adam" and has had his music appear on many hit television shows including “Scrubs,” “Bones,” “House,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “One Tree Hill.”

Right now, Joshua is on an international tour which began on September 9th in Norfolk, VA (Tour dates below). Joshua is touring in support of his new album, Simple Times, which hit No. 1 on both iTunes’ Top Album and Alternative charts within 48 hours of its release. The music video for the lead single “I’d Rather Be With You” is incredible and was directed by Zach Braff (“Scrubs,” “Garden State”), a college friend of Radin’s.

Simple Times is the follow-up to Joshua’s 2006 debut, We Were Here. It features guest appearances by Patty Griffin and Meiko and deserves a spot in your CD collection, so get it now!

Mini Interview with Joshua Radin:
What country are you looking forward to visiting the most?

Italy! It will be my first time going there.

Do you find the energy level to vary in different US cities?
New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles definitely always have a special energy, those being the big cities.

What are your favorite venues to play in LA & NY?
I think I haven't played in enough venues but I would say Henry Fonda Theatre in LA and Webster Hall in NY. They are both beautiful venues.

Can we expect any Twitpics while on tour?
I will actually be posting a lot of photos on Facebook, so check it out.

What was it like hearing your music on Scrubs?
It was cool! I like it because it brings the song out to more people, it is great exposure. It is really amazing to have my songs on so many different TV shows.

When did you write Brand New Day?
I remember just waking up in my house one day and it was just a beautiful day in Los Angeles. The sun was pouring in through my window and I was looking out at the beautiful view. I was going through a bad breakup and that was the first day I woke up and knew that it was finally going to be okay.

Where do you go to get inspired the most when you want to write?
I usually write all of my lyrics at coffee shops.

What was the most challenging song to write or record?
To write, "You Got Growin Up To Do" because while all of my songs are personal, this one took its toll in the writing process. The most challenging to record was "We Are Okay."

What would you say is the most important aspect of being a songwriter?
For me, being honest. I write my best songs when I am brutally honest with myself.

Hawk Nelson's Dan is Living Life Loud

I recently reviewed Hawk Nelson's fourth studio project, Live Life Loud and today I want to put the spotlight on Hawk Nelson. This powerhouse foursome hailing from Canada released their debut album, "Letters to the President" in 2004 and have since appeared on NBC's "American Dreams," had a cameo performance in the hit Nickelodeon film "Yours, Mine, & Ours," and have had their songs featured on shows such as The CW hit, "Smallville." Hawk Nelson has been nominated for a Grammy, Juno and GMA Dove awards and most recently was included in the USA Today Fall Round-Up interactive calendar.

Hawk Nelson's debut single "Live Life Loud" is a life anthem for everyone but not only that...this band brings social and spiritual depth to their music which is refreshing to hear in today's music. This new album features a wide range of co-writing colleagues; tobyMac, Matthew Gerrard, and Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch. To hear all this band has to offer, you must see them live as Hawk Nelson is currently on the "Alive and Awake" tour through December 6th.

It gets even better! The band recently partnered with TOMS shoes to provide shoes to children in poverty stricken areas of Haiti as part of TOMS “One for One” initiative. Every pair of shoes purchased via Hawk Nelson’s website equals a pair of shoes that TOMS donates to a child in Haiti towards the band’s ongoing involvement with the Hands & Feet Orphanage. Hawk Nelson has also partnered with TOMS to release a shoe designed by the band in the fall of 2009.

Hawk Nelson "Live Life Loud" Music Video

When did you start playing bass guitar and how many instruments do you play?
Dan:
I am probably the least musical guy in the band. I never knew how to play the bass until I joined the band. They needed someone to play bass and I love music so...it's been about 7 years but I have a lot to learn still. I like the harmonica and I was thinking about the cello.

What was it like shooting the music video, Live Life Loud?
Dan:
Jason came up with the idea. He is super competitive when it comes to games so while we were shooting, he as playing the games trying to win. A lot of the older men were in their 80s but they were holding their own so kudos to them.

How did the band come up with the 3D idea for the CD cover artwork for Live Life Loud?
Dan:
My wife came up with the idea. She is more artistic than any of us.

On "Tis So Sweet" Cover:
Dan:
I was in church one Sunday and they did a cover of an old hymn and I wanted to do that cover but I got together with Jason and our producer, Steve who had an old hymn book. I felt good about Tis So Sweet. Our friend, Jen did harmonies on it. This is a song I am most proud of.

About Working with tobyMac:
Dan:
We were on tour with tobyMac and he came in one day with a song idea that he felt was good for us. So we finished the song, he liked it, and put his vocals on it. It was a true collaboration with one of the few guys that I can look up to in this industry.

About Co-Writing:
Dan:
Usually Jason will have an idea. Occasionally I will bring something to the table. Jason, myself, and Steve our producer would arrange the lyrics. Then all four of us would come together with our instruments and put everything down to record.

What venue are you looking forward to playing the most?
Dan:
Hammerstein Ballroom on NYC but I am excited about so many places!

Live Life Loud is available now at all retail and digital outlets.

TV Week in Review

*Reviews May Contain Spoilers*

Heroes - Orientation & Jump, Push, Fall

Sylar: Hi. My name is Sylar. It's been about six weeks or so since I've seen my body and I want it back.

I was very pleased with this 2 hour premiere! Starting off with Claire, while her college roommate, Annie was quite annoying, it was upsetting to see her die. Although whether Claire likes it or not, Gretchen is going to be her new best friend forever since Gretchen has seen her power. It will be interesting to see how Claire and Gretchen find out why Annie killed herself, if that will be revealed...unless that was a simple move to have Gretchen become Claire's room mate. I try not to read spoilers, so I do not know what is in store. Two things I want to mention, Claire's hair is back to normal and I like the Crossing Jordan reference. Getting to Claire's dad, HRG...while I did not expect HRG to team up with Tracy, it seems fitting so long as their relationship does not go any further than that. Thankfully, HRG did not have the chance to even consider working with Danko again since her was murdered. Honestly, I was glad that Danko was killed because his character would seem like a distraction in this volume. The only thing I am interested in regarding Danko is why Danko had the key that was in his body. What is so special about that compass? Getting to one of the new character, Nadia...her power just does not seem all that special. Actually, so far the only cool new power of the new characters is the speed/martial arts power. Hopefully the story lines are strong for these new characters because the powers need an upgrade. A storyline that has definitely gotten better is Hiro & Andy's storyline. I have no idea where their storyline started to go down the drain but it is finally getting back to being interesting. I wonder what else Hiro will change in the past and cannot wait to see the repercussions of those actions. Someone that never disappoints me is Sylar. I absolutely love where his storyline is going. I want to know how he has the power to get into people's heads like he has to Matt and Angela. Zachary Quinto is a phenomenal actor. The recovery group scene and interrogation room scene were the most powerful of the night. It looks like Matt is going to be the one to let Sylar loose, possibly through him. He should have listened to Angela while he had the chance! Last, but certainly not least...Peter! I loved seeing Peter saving lives as a paramedic and a hero. Bravo! Also, I was over the moon when I saw Wes Ramsey's name in the opening credits, as I am a huge fan of his work on Charmed. So to see him as a water boy on Heroes was funny since on Charmed he had powers and on Heroes, he is not a hero. I must say, if this had not been a 2 hour premiere...looking at the episodes separately...I don't think I got much anything out of "Orientation." It seems like all of the action was in "Jump, Push, Fall." I look forward to more action, more character development from the 3 new characters, and lots more secrets to be unveiled and heroes being heroes - not just against Sylar and the government. So far so good, next week looks even better!

One Tree Hill - What Are You Willing to Lose

Haley: You're not broken.
Quinn: Thanks. I hope not.

What was perhaps an even bigger shocker than last week is Rachel being married to Dan! How did that happen? Scandalous! Will Rachel interact with her former high school class or be in the same amount of spotlight as Dan is? Anyway...continuing from last week's scandal that is coming to the surface, we found out the motive of the girl who is about to tear down Nathan's life. We all know it's not Nathan's baby but why did Nathan & Clay seem to accept this truth so easily? Did Nathan indeed cheat on Haley while on the road? I hope not. Next week cannot get here soon enough, to see Haley's reaction to all of this. Anyway...Haley does have one thing to be grateful about, the label not closing! Yay! Brief moment on Quinn - I am tired of her not explaining how her husband changed and I can't wait to see who her husband is...casting better do a good job on that one because there is a lot of build up to him. Last but not least...Brooke was right, why did Julian's dad need to come to Tree Hill to share his opinion about Julian being with Brooke? It seemed really random. Something that also did not add up was Julian's father recognizing how wrong he was in one conversation with Brooke? Really? Also, Brooke & Millie buying Alex's terrible acting at Clothes Over Bros was hard to watch. The dress that Alex was wearing was not cute at all so that is even more confusing. Neither of the girls are stupid, so how did that go over their heads? Actually, why did Brooke offer to pay so much money for a celebrity she has never met? That is not a wise business decision. Everything about Brooke's story lines were just wrong in this episode. Overall, this episode was decent but I want the drama to hit the fan already. Also, I love the Spring Awakening shout out in this episode!

Gossip Girl - The Freshmen

Dan: No headbands in college, okay?

This was a very entertaining episode! Georgina trying to play buddy buddy with Blair was fun to see! Blair being desperate enough to reach out to Dan in public shows Georgina's effect on Blair, if nothing else. Thankfully Dan of all people put Blair in her place once all was said and done. Although it looks like there will be a lot more to be said in the Upper East Side if people find out that Dan and Georgina hooked up! Moving onto Serena...I was wondering when Serena would finally decide to skip out on college. She just doesn't seem like the college fit. Plus, the moment we all love and agree with (what Chuck said), Serena is a train wreck! There are many reasons why I agree, including Serena crashing Chuck's business meeting which was really low. Serena is so idiotic. Ugh. Anyway, Nate seems so disconnected from the group so I hope he interacts more with everyone soon! This week's episode was better than the premiere and it looks like next week's episode will be better than the first two, so this season is off to a terrific start!

90210 - Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat

Annie: I'm not about to fight some war I can't win.

After watching this episode twice, I still am not excited about anything that has happened. Dixon is ridiculous for not being straight up with the girl he met. If David and Silver are not going to be with each other, they at least need to be with people who are their own age and on the same level as them. I'm over Naomi and Annie fighting about what really happened at the party. What Navid did for Adrianna was adorable but there's not much else to being adorable...so...I don't know. I was really excited for this episode and it just seemed to be a let down. I want Naomi to find out that her sister was the one who slept around, not Annie. When that happens or some serious drama hits the fan, someone let me know so I can tune in again.

Melrose Place - Grand

Jonah: I'm pretty much the least intimidating person I know.

I know I am hooked to this show. Ella's personality...I love it! She is a shining star in her own right. As far as the star she is trying to make...Jonah should not be discouraged with the music video credit, because he will have his time. As for his fiancee, Riley...why did she lie to Jonah on top of kissing Auggie while drunk?! Why mess up a good thing? Is this why Ella has it out for Riley? As for someone who is really hiding secrets, Dr. Mancini is hiding quite a lot! I hope his son, David finds out what he is up to. This twist is making it even more of a guessing game for who killed Sydney. Honestly, I don't think it is Michael, Auggie, or Violet. Speaking of Violet, she is made out to be very creepy but when you think about it...wouldn't you want something of your parents if they died? Anyway, congratulations to Lauren for joining Michael's team. Did Michael only hire her to keep tabs on David? Lauren saying that she had something worked out to keep up with the program, makes it seem like she hasn't left prostitution behind. Please, find another way! There's a lot of baggage these people need to leave behind...but then where would the drama be? Keep it coming because I love it! I wasn't expecting to see Taryn Manning in Melrose Place, thankfully it is only in one episode. She just doesn't fit the show, so to play a star for Jonah's music video was enough. Overall, this was a great episode and I love the direction this show is headed.

The Good Wife - Pilot

Alicia: I thought, how could you allow yourself to be used like that? And then it happened and I was...unprepared.

While I wanted more from the Pilot, it was exactly as I expected it to be. It was a great setup to what I am sure will be an interesting season. Julianna Margulies is doing a phenomenal job and I am a big fan of Christine Baranski, so it is a thrill to see her in this show. As for Julianna's character Alicia...I wonder how long it will take for her to really feel comfortable and at home getting back into law. There is only so much that I can take of seeing her scrambling and nervous about her job. I also want to see more of Alicia interacting with her daughter, and the students and adults at her daughter's school and in the neighborhood. I wonder how long Alicia's husband, Peter will remain behind bars for the season and how much longer his mother will irritate Alicia and the kids. What I am really interested to see is where Alicia and Peter's relationship goes over time. Show less time in the courtroom having Alicia do her job and more time with Alicia and Peter. Now that the Pilot has aired, the show can pick up the pace in setting things up and getting to the nitty gritty of the main storyline. That is what I am excited to see. So far, I am not committed to this show, but if it picks up then I am on board.

Eastwick - Pilot

Roxanne: $50,000.
Darryl: Ouch.
Roxanne: You want me to build a monument to your ego, that's the going rate.

I enjoyed this episode much more than I thought I would! The introduction was fun to watch although there were too many ants to look at in a later scene. I hope viewers do not have to see that again. I was wondering how the 3 women would come together, and it seems realistic how this would happen in a small town. However, hanging out everyday afterwards, that seems like a bit much. Once they share that they have discovered their powers, then I can see them together all the time. The women shared their first impressions of each other very quickly. It was fun to hear what the women wished at the fountain. It will be exciting to see how their wishes play out, how their powers play out throughout the season. Kat's power proves to be the most dangerous. Joanna's power proves to be the most fun to use yet the most disconnecting. Roxanne's power seems to be the most useful. Let's see how my impressions change over time. Speaking of Roxanne...Matt Dallas' character is very young for Roxanne, and does not seem like the right fit for her so I do not see that lasting very long. Although I do find Roxie to be very comedic when it comes to her storyline with her daughter. Hmmm...will Kat kill her husband, Chad? That would be one less problem to worry about. Kidding. Sort of. Will Joanna find true love? As for Darryl...will Darryl be a problem for just one of the women or all of them? How long will Darryl be in the picture? I say this because that certainly cannot be the only main conflict for the women. It was great to see Sara Rue on the show playing Penny, as I loved her on The WB show, Popular years ago. So my only big problem with the show is that you can tell that the show is filmed on a set. It doesn't feel real. Hopefully that will change. Also, there are too many sex talk. Less sex talk more magic! It seems like the writers are trying way too hard with all of the sex talk. If the show is not afraid to make it their own, this could be a great show! Only time will tell! Don't watch Eastwick with expectations of it being like the film. I haven't read the book so I can't comment on this, but I hope it stays true to the book/film while finding its own feet without trying to be like any other show and has a plan for the longrun because right now, I don't see it. I will keep watching though!

Vampire Diaries - Friday Night Bites

Elena: So, which one of you dated her first?
Damon: Ask Stefan. I'm sure his answer differs from mine.

This episode was so much more entertaining than last week. Stefan trying out for the football team and Elena trying to get back into her extracurricular activities while Caroline starts a relationship with Damon...wow. It looks like Caroline is not a vampire and unaware of Damon being a vampire so long as he erases/changes her memory. Whatever that power is called. I hope Elena is in the know about the vampire world soon. It would be a bad mood to have Elena find out at the end of the season...that is just dragging out the unnecessary. Anyway, if Elena's other bff, Bonnie isn't careful with her psychic powers, she could end up a vampire victim soon. Let's hope she is careful. 8-14-22, is that the day that Stefan became a vampire? Well, someone who just created danger for herself unknowingly, Elena invited Damon into her house! Yikes. Damon is getting very comfortable, hitting on Elena and biting when he feels like it. This will prove to be a major problem in future episodes, I'm sure. This episode really moved the story along and showed Stefan and Damon's powers more than in the last episode which I would like to continue to see throughout the season. Looking forward to next week.

Flash Forward - No More Good Days

Charlie: I had a bad dream.

What an incredible opening to what will be an extraordinary first season to Flash Forward. My only question is...what will happen when those 2 minutes and 17 seconds occur on April 29, 2010 at 10pm? What is there left for the show? Will there be more flash forwards? How drawn out will the first season be time wise? Will there be not only flashes forwards but flashbacks to give more insight into characters? Although, sticking to what I know...the series premiere! I cannot begin to tell you how thrilling it is trying to solve this mystery along with Mark and the entire world. Mark's wall chart is going to drive me crazy! What do the 3 stars mean? Who or what is mosaic? "Who else knows" what? What did Mark's daughter, Charlie dream? Will Olivia really cheat on Mark and even become that kid's stepmom? Then...why didn't Demetri have a flash forward? For some reason I find death to be too easy of a reason why he wouldn't have gotten a flash. Perhaps he was part of the reason the flash forward even happened and doesn't realize it but was at a stage where he still passed out with the rest of the world. That might be a long shot. We'll see. There were more questions that arose from each scene than answers and because of that, there is going to be so much to look forward to this season. I am hooked and you should be too. I can't wait until next week.

The Office - The Meeting

Michael: Jim has been promoted to co-manager.
Stanley: Of What?
Michael: Of your butt.

While the cold open wasn't funny, the episode was. It does not at all surprise me that Michael would do anything he could to get into a private meeting with David Wallace and Jim. Although it was extremely surprising that Michael threw Jim under the bus so quickly. He wants to be everyone's friend but he apparently wants to be number one more. This was disappointing because I don't think I ever wanted to see Michael throw someone under the bus like that since he doesn't seem as deserving as Jim for a manager position. The assistant to the regional manager, Dwight had his own goal in this episode, partnering up with Toby of all people! What a hilarious moment when the two mistook Daryl's wife for Daryl! Although the funniest moments I feel were all of the pregnancy lines. Who will end up going to Jim and Pam's wedding?

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - The Gang Hits the Road

Mac: Maybe you shouldn't be throwing jars of pee out the window!
Sweet Dee: Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn't. It's up for debate.

What a fun cold open! This episode was bound to be funny based on the title alone, but the setup to the road trip was stellar. Then injuring a bike rider, getting a flat tire, attempting to leave Sweet Dee, and stopping at the Italian market before attempting to go on a road trip...everything about this episode was perfect. It doesn't surprise me that Charlie has never been out of Philly or ever had a pear. He doesn't seem like a fruity person and he does seem like a home body. Sweet Dee thinking that there is a state called East Virginia is not surprising either and yet still incredibly funny! Funniest of all, Sweet Dee getting a random stranger to drive their car while they play a drinking game. Things just got even funnier as the episode went on. This episode definitely made my night!

Dollhouse - Vows

Dr. Saunders: You don't care if people get hurt.
Topher: You don't know me!

Season 2 did not start off with as much of a bang as I would have expected but it was still a decent setup for what is to come. There is so much more comedy in Topher's dialogue, it's great! Now will Ivy, Topher's assistant I guess, will she play a bigger part in this season? Anyway, Ballard and Adelle discussing Echo and Millie was quite interesting. Although even more interesting, perhaps the best scene in this episode was when Echo was imprinted to be a newlywed and her "husband" wanted to beat the truth out from her about what was really going on with Ballard's case. The best line was when Echo said, "Wait, what did they make me this time?" Seeing Echo crack and appear to be multiple imprints while Ballard was trying to get her to trust him was quite fun to watch! What wasn't so fun was a lack of Sierra and Victor in this episode. I look forward to seeing more from them in future episodes and interactions with all of the dolls. Next week looks good!

Review: A Change in Altitude By Anita Shreve

A Change in Altitude By Anita Shreve is a new novel that hit stores on September 22, 2009 which I have recently finished reading.

Synopsis:
Margaret and Patrick have been married just a few months when they set off on what they hope will be a great adventure-a year living in Kenya. Margaret quickly realizes there is a great deal she doesn't know about the complex mores of her new home, and about her own husband.

A British couple invites the newlyweds to join on a climbing expedition to Mount Kenya, and they eagerly agree. But during their harrowing ascent, a horrific accident occurs. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Margaret struggles to understand what happened on the mountain and how these events have transformed her and her marriage, perhaps forever.

A Change in Altitude illuminates the inner landscape of a couple, the irrevocable impact of tragedy, and the elusive nature of forgiveness. With stunning language and striking emotional intensity, Anita Shreve transports us to the exotic panoramas of Africa and into the core of our most intimate relationships.

My Thoughts:
Right away, I love the setting of this novel, Kenya in the 1970s. I noticed right away how much research was put into this from the history of Kenya to its culture, and more importantly the personal touch from Shreve as she herself lived in Kenya for a few years in the late 70s. Although honestly, the setting of this story and the plot itself seems more alive and detailed than the characters. This novel is shared in 3 parts and all throughout, there is a a fast moving plot as Shreve makes the mountain climbing adventure seem incredibly real. However, I do not feel as strong of an emotional connection to the main characters as I feel that I should. All of the characters are flawed in many ways, yet the relationships among the couples could stand to be more interesting. Readers will be intrigued by the struggles Margaret and Patrick face to keep their marriage together however there seemed to be so much more room to explore how all of the relationships in this story develop, whether good or bad. Overall, A Change in Altitude won't take your breath away but it is a good read.

Book Review: The Divorce Party

This week, I sat down to read The Divorce Party by Laura Dave and I enjoyed it so much, I wanted to tell you all what I thought!

This novel tells the story of two women who are the narrators of the story, Gwyn, who is ending her 35-year marriage, and her future daughter-in-law, Maggie, who is realizing just how little she knows about her fiancé.

The Divorce Party is incredibly thought provoking, as it causes the reader to wonder about themselves regarding how well they know the person that they love and how much they would fight to keep that relationship together. This novel is heartwarming and yet equally heartbreaking...making it very relatable. All of the characters are well developed and flawed and realistic. It captures the emotions of complex relationships perfectly. Along the way, there is humor and even a few surprises that will make this book hard to put down! Even more brilliant, the entire story takes place in just one day and manages to stir up an array of emotions - the one most importantly is...hope.

The Divorce Party is a very smart, insightful, and moving story and is a must read for those who love good fiction. The Divorce Party includes a reader’s guide in the back of the book, which will lead towards great discussion. It will be interesting to see how this novel translates on film, as it has been picked up by Universal Studios. Only time will tell.

The Divorce Party is available in Hardcover and Paperback now.

New Product: Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3

If you watched the 61st Prime time Emmy Awards hosted by Neil Patrick Harris this past Sunday night on CBS, then you have seen the commercials of the show's sponsor, Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3. This new product is a "breakthrough in body lotion," as it is the only body lotion to infuse and suspend moisture at each layer of skin for twice the moisture.

Stratys-3 combines three ingredients that infuse and suspend moisture across the skin’s top, core and deep down layers. This results in unprecedented hydration leading to better, more healthy moisturized skin and an unmatched silky skin feel.

Sheer Infusion comes in three scents, Botanical Blend, Mineral Renewal, and Vitamin Burst. Botanical Blend contains botanical cypress extract and eucalyptus extract known for soothing skin benefits and features sap boost scent with hints of Fiji apple, Chinese mandarin, water lily, stephanotis flowers, Baltic amber, and musk. Mineral Renewal is a formula containing enriching minerals found in healthy skin for when your skin feels tired and depleted and its scent features a blend of crisp pear, fresh bergamot, and the floralcy of apple blossom and white peony with a hint of ginger essence. Vitamin Burst has a formula containing vitamins B5 and E, for those whose skin needs a boost with a ferngully scent including a blend of sparkling citrus, red currant berries, pear, rhubarb, enlivening flowers, and spices.

I enjoy Botanical Blend and Vitamin Burst the most but I need to use Mineral Renewal the most, based on what my skin needs. What is great about this product is that you get what you need for your skin as well as what you want! All of the scents are very faint but last throughout the entire day, which I love. If you want lotion that will moisture your skin all day long, this is the lotion for you.

Hawk Nelson: Live Life Loud

I was recently introduced to the band, Hawk Nelson which I now love after hearing their new album, Live Life Loud which releases today!

This band, which consists of 4 guys is incredible and I cannot believe this is the first time that I am hearing of them, as this is the fourth album from the band. The new album, Live Life Loud has an equal amount of soft rock and acoustic songs and is full of thought provoking lyrics. The songwriting is remarkable. Hawk Nelson is very mature, as every song as so much heart and meaning in it. That is very refreshing to hear. If you want to be inspired, this is the album to listen to. The song, "Live Life Loud" is definitely the life anthem for everyone and the band's remake of the hymn, "Tis So Sweet" is outstanding. These 2 songs are the most played in my music library from the album. "Eggshells" featuring TobyMac is sure to be a fan favorite as well. The variety of instruments used and arranged and the incredible blend of harmonies and melodies in each song will light up your day. The only downside is that there are only 12 tracks on the album, because you will want to hear more! This is music that everyone of all ages and from all walks of life can truly appreciate. There is no doubt about it...Hawk Nelson will become one of your new favorite bands.

Hawk Nelson will be on tour this fall, so make sure you check them out.

Exclusive Interview with Devin Ratray - Talks Surrogates & Courting Condi

Surrogates hits theaters this Friday and I got to catch up with Actor, Devin Ratray to talk about his role in this upcoming film as well as his film, Courting Condi. We all know Devin best as Buzz from Home Alone and Mickey from Dennis the Menace, but right now it's all about Surrogates, so you should buy your tickets in advance for the weekend! Surrogates is bound to be this weekend's #1 movie in the box office!

Surrogates
So tell me about your character in Surrogates.

I play Bobby Saunders, the head of FBI Surveillance for this new technology that has been developed. I can observe and monitor the behavior and whereabouts of all of the surrogates in Boston. When they commit illegal acts, I have to call in agents or sometimes take more severe actions myself.

Who did you work with the most in the film?
I worked most with Radha Mitchell and I had a great time working with her! I also had a great time trying to make her laugh in between takes, especially at the most dramatic times.

What was it like working with the director, Jonathan Mostow?
I cannot say enough good things about him. He is perhaps one of the easiest directors to work with. He is the most attentive to the actors' needs. He has a demeanor about him where you feel that you can experiment with him yet he always has complete control and will guide you to where you need to be. He is very easygoing, he had everything done on time or ahead of schedule and did so much under budget, and he is just a tremendous person.

Were there a lot of rewrites?
There were a tremendous amount of rewrites. With a film of that scale, you want to make sure that everything is perfect. A lot of the technical lingo was rewritten. Also, originally this was supposed to take place in the distance future but they made the decision to bring it to modern day times, which I find to be a much better choice...it seems like it could happen now. It's much more creepy.

If this was real, would you have gotten a surrogate?
I'm sure I would have but I probably would have trashed my surrogate very early.

Courting Condi
When you decide that you were going to create a documentary about Condoleezza Rice?

I was approached by Sebastian Doggart in 2006. He thought that I was the perfect person for the part and we worked on the songs, script ideas, and shot in 2007. It has won 25 awards to date!

I love music...tell me how the documentary came together from the musical aspect since it has musical, comedy, and dramatic aspects.
I was very interested in the blend of genres. Sebastian knew that I had done an MTV program a few years earlier and then he found out that I was part of a band and played 5 instruments. So I ended up writing 2 of the songs on the soundtrack.

The film starts out very comedic and is throughout however the tone changes as it spews out the facts about Condoleezza and gets to the nitty gritty about certain things so did you always know how you wanted to create where the documentary would take viewers?
We didn't plan on it. A lot came out with the people that we interviewed. We had no control over what the people would voluntarily say so it was quite the journey that we went on. SO we had 5 alternate endings that we had prepared because the more background information that we found out about her, the more facts came to life.

What does Condoleezza Rice have to say about this documentary ?
She has remained silent but she did send her people out to us. We had tried several times to get her to do an interview or at least release a statement but she declined. Although when we were in Washington, D.C. the state department showed up at our door to make sure that we were not a threat.

Suppose she had accepted the offer for an interview, what would you have asked?
Will you marry me? Honestly, I have thought about that a lot. I have gained so much information about her from shooting the film so it's a lot to think about.

Other
Do you have a subject matter in mind for a future documentary?

Yes, I'm thinking about Hillary Clinton. Courting Clinton would be a good sequel. No, I'm joking of course. There's actually lots of subjects I could do.

What are your upcoming projects?
There is a film called The 2 Bobs and it is my first starring role in a straight up raunchy R rated comedy. That is making the film festival circuit right now. I am also writing more music and perhaps will have an album ready in a year or so.

Review: True Jackson VP Season 1 Volume 1 DVD

When it was announced that Keke Palmer would have her own television show, I was more than thrilled and knew that I had to check out her show. Since her show has premiered, I have enjoyed every episode of True Jackson VP on Nickelodeon and I hope that you are as excited as I am of the recent Season 1 Volume 1 DVD release!

You said WHAT?! A 15-year-old as Vice President of a major fashion label? Watch as True Jackson proves to the world that she’s got real talent, all while discovering that the office is really just like high school, complete with bullies, cliques, and crushes!

I believe that this show is the most comedic show on Nickelodeon right now! The character development and story development is done a quick and reasonable pace, which is just perfect. Andy Gordon, fabulous job creating this show! Also, the theme song is written and arranged very well, it is so catchy. Immediately, we find out how True Jackson becomes VP of Mad Style youth apparel. The character dynamic is clearly shown, as we are introduced to True's best friends, Lulu and Ryan, and True's enemy, Amanda. I love how even though this is a show for young people, adults can still enjoy this show too. For example, the President of Mad Style, Max has an employee that he does not like. We all have that one co-worker that we don't like, so adults will enjoy seeing this bit of comedy placed in the show. There are also realistic conflicts that everyone of all ages will see in the show and learn from. For instance, True has the difficulty of deciding if she will fire her best friend, Lulu as an assistant. In another episode, True helps Max get over his ex-girlfriend and Amanda become the bigger person when she attends her high school reunion. As VP, True has to learn a lot about the business, like not borrowing wardrobe pieces in the dress vaults, not taking business opportunities that will hurt her in the end, the right ways to use a business credit card, and getting into Fashion Week, among other things. As each episode went on, this show gets even more hilarious. The fact that this show is filmed in front of a live audience is even better. I would love to see this show live next time I am out in Los Angeles, and I definitely recommend that you do the same if you are ever in the area. While the episodes were incredibly entertaining, the special features were just as jam packed with action, comedy, and a great insight into how this show has come together.

Special Features:
The special features were incredible on this DVD. The best thing about the special features is that every single feature lasted for a reasonable amount of time and was more than a quick sneak peak. While there are simply 4 features, you will wonder where the time went when you are done watching them. Every feature makes you feel even more connected to the show and excited for future True Jackson VP DVDs.
Behind the Scenes Extras - This features first starts out as promo where each of the main characters are on set and introduce themselves and their characters as behind the scene shots play. Then, Keke Palmer and Ashley Argota talk about being home schooled and even their studio teacher talks about what it is like having Keke and Ashley as students. Next, all of the main cast members talk about how luck effects their lives, just as luck effects True's life. It doesn't stop there! This feature is quite amazing, as it many extras! Both Nathalia Ramos who plays Dakota and Candace Moon who plays the Yogurt Girl in the episode, "Babysitting Dakota" as well as the cast give more background on these 2 dynamic characters. What was probably the most personable moment of this feature was watching the cast share photos of when they were younger. In an episode of the show, Amanda goes to her high school reunion, which is where this photo sharing is inspired from. Then...since Mad Style has a fashion vault, the cast talks about what they would put in a vault if they had their own. The answers probably won't surprise you! If you have been watching the entire season, then you know that MTV star and pro skateboarder, Ryan Sheckler guest stars in an episode so Ashley Argota interviews Ryan for a few moments. Seeing a celebrity interviewing a celebrity is always fun. Lastly, the cast members talk about "Building Character" as everyone answers thought provoking questions about their characters. This is the perfect way to end this special feature. There were so many exciting extras and the transition between each extra was created well enough where you can sink in and enjoy everything that you watch. I definitely enjoyed this feature and hope to see it in Volume 2.
Bloopers - This was quite a lengthy blooper reel that will keep you laughing even after the reel is over. My favorite moment took place when Keke could not get her line about earlobes correct. What really takes this reel over the top is the audience reactions since this show is filmed in front of a live audience. I hope that doesn't change and I look forward to Volume 2's DVD bloopers!
Cast Screen Tests - What I love about screen tests is seeing how characters have evolved from then to now. So thanks Nickelodeon for having this as a special feature. The screen test start out with Ashley Argota, who tested with Keke Palmer. Danielle Bisutti's screen test was incredible. No one else could have played Amanda. It's like the role was made for her. Greg Proops' screen test starts at the very beginning and while he does not screen with Keke in this tape as everyone else did, his audition is still enjoyable to watch. Matt Shively's screen test is entertaining to watch, as Keke is laughing silently through most of the end. Robbie Amell's screen test is the most interesting to watch because it looks like he worked on his character a lot more since that test. On the tape, I can just barely see the character that we all see on the show, so good job Robbie on eventually shaping the character into your own. Next, we see Keke, Ashley, Matt, and Robbie together in a short but fun moment as they get together to put on tape who each of their characters' names are. Lastly, Ron Butler's screen test brings the laughs among the casting director and all those sitting in for the recording. While the shortest screen test we see, it is still entertaining to watch.
NY Fashion Week: Behind the Scenes at the Barbie Fashion Show - This feature is a must see for all of the fashionistas and Barbie fans. Viewers get a behind the scenes look at preparation for the Barbie Fashion Show which took place February 2009 and even a bit of the fashion show itself is shown as a few fashion icons, including Heidi Klum are interviewed throughout this feature.

DVD Review: Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2

Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles became my favorite show on Fox in 2008. I was incredibly dedicated to this show and supported the show in every way that I could, from being involved in the online fandom to attending promotional appearances and events the show held. Needless to say, I was very upset when this show was canceled. So when I received Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 on DVD, as excited as I was, it also made me realize all over again that this was the final season...and what an extraordinary season this was.

Season 2 Original Air Date: 2008 – 2009
Season 2 DVD Release Date: September 22, 2009
6 Discs/22 Episodes/976 minutes Run time/Not Rated

The time: today. The stakes: all our tomorrows. A nascent AI, assisted by droids, continues to edge toward world domination and the ruin of humankind. It accepts no limits. It fears no one. Except John Connor. The machines know John, now 16, is the future head of the resistance. They know he is growing in abilities. They must find and terminate him. But Sarah Connor is there, protecting and instructing her son as he becomes the man he’s destined to be.

Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 was just as amazing, if not better than Season 1. The character development and story arcs for this season were phenomenal. The introduction to new characters was welcomed more easily than I thought and the emotional connection to all of the characters grew stronger than ever. The action sequences were outstanding, just as us Terminator fans want them. This season answered many questions from Season 1 while creating so many more and yet ended the season, the series on the best way it ever could. Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 was the best season of television from 2008 - 2009 and when you buy your copy on DVD, you will always be reminded why.

Special Features:

The Storyboard Process: Cameron Goes Bad - Visual Effects Supervisor, Jim Lima, Special Effects Supervisor, Steve Galich, and Stunt Coordinator/2nd Unit Director, Joel Kramer talk about what a storyboard is and how it illustrates and maps out key sequences as images of storyboards are shown. There is a split screen where viewers see the storyboard and the final shots for various scenes, and then this feature closes out with the split screen of the "Samson and Delilah" car scene when John saves Cameron. This feature is so important to see because so much happens in production between drawing the storyboard and filming, so it is nice to see the storyboards come to life and see how well the scenes follow the storyboards.

Cameron vs. Rosie: Fight Rehearsal - This feature starts out with images of the storyboard as Executive Producer, James Middleton and the stunt coordinator, Joel Kramer discuss the sequence, as we see the girls' final rehearsal footage. I thought that it couldn't get any better when next comes the best part! There is a split screen comparison of the final rehearsal footage and the final footage that was shot for the episode. This feature couldn't have been more thrilling to watch!

Gag Reel - This was a fun gag reel to watch! It starts out with planes interrupting multiples scenes, and then branches out to the funnier moments including my favorites...when at the morgue Thomas trying to pull Leven out so he could see if her character Riley was dead and when Thomas is running with his pants down randomly. There weren't too many parts where characters forgot their lines, but there were a few stunt issues which was funny to see.

The Continuing Chronicles: Terminator 8 Part Featurette Gallery:
Write the Future
- Josh Friedman, John Wirth, James Middleton, Natalie Chaidez, Jon Enbom, Ian Goldberg, Toni Graphia, Zack Stentz, Daniel T. Thomsen, and Denise The are all interviewed for this special feature, as they all discuss what happen in the writer's room, the process from coming up with ideas to the final draft, and certain intentions for this season. All throughout, close ups of the writer' room white board are shown, which we see notes for Acts 1 - 6 on various episodes, action and character notes. Some discussions that took place in the writer's room are shown, including the discussion about when to kill off Sherman. Josh explains how he really wanted more serialized elements as opposed to stand alone episodes, get more into the family dynamic this season, and more of what the writers were looking to explore in season 2. This was an excellent inside look that all Terminator fans will enjoy and I consider to be my favorite of this 8 part featurette.
Conceptualization - Shirley Manson starts out talking about when she first found out about her character coming out of a urinal, as we see the VFX rough draft on screen. Josh Friedman briefly talks about the biggest challenge for special effects and then Jim Lima talks about what his job entails as visual effects supervisor. James Middleton and many others praise Jim's work as storyboards and notes as well as the crew on set is shown on screen. Robert Hall, the special effects creator briefly talks about creating the terminator heart based on Jim's vision. John Wirth mentions that time and money determine the special effects the show is able to have which is quite fascinating when you think about the short amount of time the crew has to create all of these special effects each week on a budget. The crew talks about creating the T1000, which many fans will enjoy and that is the overall recap of this extra. I wish Robert Hall had more screen time, as it would have been interesting to hear more from him and see more of these effects from the beginning stages to the final stage. Overall, this was an insightful extra.
Blood & Metal - Anyone who wants a career in the special effects department, this is the special feature for you. Robert Hall talks about what his job entails and certain makeup effects for a few scenes. James Middleton points out that this show aims for the most practical special effects instead of so much CG. John Wirth has a few words to say as well as cast members, Summer Glau and Garret Dillahunt. My favorite part of this extra was seeing the actors in the makeup chairs and seeing how the makeup and effects were applied for the fight scene between Cameron and Rosie. What an incredible feature!
Deigning Destruction - One of my favorite features is seeing the cast and crew discuss working with the incredible production designer, Marek Dobrowolski who created such complex, versatile sets for the show. We see how the set for Catherine Weaver's office, the nuclear submarine, and the Tirk room came together. Stephanie Jacobsen points out that on set for the submarine, there was one corridor that was used for as many as seven different corridors, which is just one of the many fun facts that you will take out of this extra. Thomas Dekker, Shirley Manson, Brian Austin Green, and Summer Glau as well as Josh Friedman, James Middleton, John Wirth, and Director of Photography, Stephen Collins discuss all of the work put into this show. This is an incredible inside look into the show that really makes you appreciate the worlds that this show has created all the more.
Choreographing Chaos - This feature takes a look at the "Samson & Delilah" car chase, flip, and when Cameron is pinned between 2 trucks. The car flip took hours to rehearse! It was very interesting to see what Summer Glau did for the pinup. That scene is a very emotional scene so to take that out and get technical was very interesting. Then, Garrett Dillahunt talks about working underwater, which he had a wonderful time doing, scary as it may be. Josh Friedman, Joel Kramer, James Middleton, Steve Galich, and John Wirth all had something to say in this extra, although I was more interested in this footage that was shown which was incredible!
War Stories - James Middleton, Josh Friedman, Lena Headey, Brian Austin Green, Leven Rambin, Stephanie Jacobsen, Shirley Manson, Garret Dillahunt, and others talk about filming certain scenes. Summer Glau talked about the difficulty shooting the fight with Bonnie who play Rosie and everyone discusses the positives and negatives of shooting a major action scene on Santa Monica Pier. During shooting, Thomas Dekker had a bit of a panic in the water tank - but all was well of course as we can all see from the final cut. What I found to be most interesting was talk about the research done regarding the kind of gun that would kill a terminator. This talk may create lots for the hardcore Terminator fans to discuss. What a fun feature!
Setting the Tempo - This extra is dedicated to sharing how the music came together for this show. Bear Mccreary, the music composer of the show, Josh Friedman, James Middleton, and John Wirth all spoke about the important elements involved in creating the music for the show. Note that 99% of the music is score, which I find to make this show that much more of an emotional connection with every character and storyline. There are different musical themes for each character and Sarah's theme is put in the forefront for this feature. Viewers get to see how the percussion instruments are recorded in the studio and are told how the string instruments are recorded. Josh Friedman talks about the choice of "Samson and Delilah" which brings us to the best part of this feature. Shirley Manson talks about "Samson and Delilah" and then TSCC fans are treated to a full uncut, unmixed, and unedited acapella in studio performance of Shirley Manson singing the song! If that's not TSCC love, I don't know what is. What a treat!
Motivation - Josh Friedman, James Middleton, and John Wirth all talk about the motivation behind the character development in this season. Leven Rambin and Stephanie Jacobsen also talk about their characters in this extra. As new characters come in, a few current characters head out, so there is a bit of the San Diego Comic Con panel shown where the announcement is made that a main character will die this season. Which brings Garret Dillahunt on screen to discuss how he found out that his character of Cromartie was going to die. Richard T. Jones also appears in this extra, as he and the executive producers talk about the importance of his character being a man of religion. Summer Glau, Lena Headey, and Thomas Dekker also talk about their characters in this extra. My favorite part of this extra was acknowledging the fandom by showing a bit of the Comic Con panel (and not just because I can see my head in the first row). I highly recommend that those who want to get a better idea about what the actors think about their characters and how the executive producers made certain decisions about the character development, watch this extra.

Terminated Scenes - I love deleted scenes because I get a look at where the show could have been headed and possibly get more insight into certain events. In these deleted scenes, there was not much more insight given to certain situations and in some scenes I was even a bit confused. However, one scene I wish could have made it in the final cut was the terminated scene from the episode, "The Tower is Tall But the Fall is Short" which involves John, Cameron, and death. There are about 12 deleted scenes in total, 4 of them including Stephanie Jacobsen, 1 including Dean Winters, and of course let's not forget Shirley Manson.

Commentaries:
I enjoyed the commentaries, although wished Brian Austin Green and Richard T. Jones had been part of at least one of these. Aside from that, I was very pleased with the commentaries.
Samson & Delilah - Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, Shirley Manson, and Josh Friedman all participated in this commentary. This starts out with 90210 jokes, so right away the comedy tone is set. What an amazingly fun group of actors! While this commentary is very entertaining, it is also very insightful. Josh Friedman mentions the first five minutes of this episode are the cliff notes version of what would have been the 10th episode of Season 1 if the writer's strike had not happened. Interesting fun facts are shared all throughout this commentary. For instance, this opening montage was shot on various days - when Cameron finally gets upstairs and finds Sarah & John...different days. Thomas mentions that he had a wig on for this entire episode since he was shooting a film where he cut his hair. Josh explained how the first scene that we see with Cromartie and Ellison came together, which many will find to be interesting. Lena and Thomas talk about the paparazzi, Josh talks about writing the episode, Summer doesn't talk all that much in the commentary but fans find out that she has a thing for firemen! Shirley Manson discusses her wardrobe and hair which I find to be quite fun to hear since she doesn't like to see herself on screen. The best part about this commentary was Josh explaining that Cameron overriding the termination of John is what caused Cameron's odd behavior all throughout the season. That cleared so much up! Thanks Josh!

Alison From Palmdale
- Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, Josh Friedman, James Middleton, ans John Wirth all participated in this commentary. This episode shows Cameron's origin story and tells part of Sarah's back story, so this is heavily talked about throughout the commentary. Perhaps the most hilarious moment of this commentary was when Thomas Dekker confessed that he did not know that Guest Star, Busy Phillips was indeed pregnant during filming. A reference that I found while watching this show air live that I was not sure about was brought up in this episode, The Wizard of Oz. It was reassuring to know that my original note that this was indeed a reference was correct! What many will find to be thought provoking and will pay attention to when they watch the season over again is how throughout the season, Sarah is faced with different versions of the way her life could have been (example, Busy Phillip's character) as Josh mentions and also there are different voices for present day Cameron, Cameron when she was first born, and Alison. This commentary was very informative and really gave so much insight into the characters Cameron and Sarah, making it such a delight to watch!

Adam Raised A Cain - Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, Josh Friedman, James Middleton, ans John Wirth all participated in this commentary. The first fun fact shared is that Catherine Weaver's house is actually the house that was in Iron Man and many other films. Speaking of Weaver, the actress who plays Savannah, Mackenzie Smith was highly praised by Thomas Dekker and if you weren't already, you will be looking forward to seeing more of Mackenzie's work. While working on this commentary, Summer Glau had not yet seen this episode as this episode had not even aired yet. Summer did not have much to say in the first half of the commentary but viewers will actually be more interested in what Josh has to say. Josh talks about music spotting, visual storytelling vs. dialogue, the reasoning for titling this episode "Adam Raised A Cain," the arguments in the writers room regarding whether or not Sarah would be arrested, and much more! You will walk away from this commentary learning so much, I loved it.

Born To Run - Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, Josh Friedman, James Middleton, ans John Wirth all participated in this commentary. What I found to be a very sweet fun fact was that there is a scene in this episode that is an ode to Josh Friedman's father. A know his father is smiling where ever he is. Another fun fact shared is that the prison that the show used for this episode is actually a closed down East LA prison that is only used for movies/TV. More importantly though, Summer & Thomas talked about blocking and their creative ideas vs. the crew's creative ideas. Thomas also shared that it s incredible how much things have changed and how much he has grown since the beginning of this TSCC journey. Once the episode gets towards the end, everyone begins to talk about everyone's emotions which were running high filming these last few scenes and it really was quite emotional to watch and hear. What a ride this has been. Thank you everyone involved in the commentary and everyone involved in creating such an incredible show.

61st Emmy Awards Highlights

Last night, I watched the 61st Emmy Awards air live on CBS. The award ceremony was hosted by the one and only, Neil Patrick Harris and his opening performance was brilliant! What I found also to be quite brilliant was splitting the show in genres. This was long overdue, so it was nice to see this modification in the show. The genres were presented in the order of Comedy, Reality, Miniseries/TV Movie, Variety, and Drama.

There were so many people that I was excited for! Kristin Chenoweth won the first award of the night for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work in Pushing Daisies. As a longtime fan of Kristin Chenoweth and a fan of the show, Pushing Daisies, I was thrilled to see her win. Her acceptance speech was very emotional and made me all the more happier for her. Congratulations Kristin! Matt Hubbard won the award for Outstanding Writing for his work on an episode of 30 Rock, which I enjoy. I was thrilled that Toni Collette won Outstanding Lead Actress for her work on United States of Tara, which I absolutely love. As I run Diablo Cody Fan, it was very exciting to hear Toni give thanks to Diablo in her speech and I believe this is just the beginning of many awards that United States of Tara will receive. It was no surprise that Tina Fey won Outstanding Guest Actress for her work as Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live and Justin Timberlake won Outstanding Guest Actor for his work on SNL. I knew they would win! What I found to be a nice addition to the show were the video interviews for nominees in certain categories, such as Outstanding Director. Jeffrey Blitz won this award for his work on an episode of The Office.

I don't watch much reality television, however I did enjoy Dancing With The Stars dancers, Maksim & Karina's performance with the crew from So You Think You Can Dance. Even though I do not watch The Amazing Race, it has always been a show that I have wanted to watch and this show winning the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Show makes me want to watch this show even more.

As for the Miniseries/TV Movie Genre, I have only seen Grey Gardens, so I was rotting for this of course. This film took home the award for Outstanding TV Movie, Jessica Lange won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress, and Kevin Howard won for Outstanding Supporting Actor, so congratulations to everyone who worked on Grey Gardens! Now is it just me, or did it seem like there was tension between Jennifer Love Hewitt and Patricia Arquette when they presented the award for Outstanding Directing? Also, I was pleasantly surprised and was thrilled when Neil Patrick Harris an the cast of Dr. Horrible did a skit for the show. What a treat!

The best part about the Variety genre was Ricky Gervais presenting the award for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series (which The Daily Show won).

Finally, Drama! I was thrilled when Michael Emerson won Outstanding Supporting Actor for his work on Lost. It was highly important that Lost was acknowledged and those working on the show be acknowledged for their incredible work with this upcoming season being its last. Bryan Cranston winning Outstanding Lead Actor for his work on Breaking Bad was in a sense surprising since it is not that well known of a show but as I have seen the first season of the show and part of the second, I must say very well deserved. So congratulations Bryan! Glenn Close took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actress for her work in Damages and while I was rooting for another lead actress, I have seen the incredible work that Glenn has done on Damages and see why she won! What an amazing job she does on this show. I knew that Michael J. Fox would take home the award for Outstanding Guest Actor for his work on Rescue Me, so it was rewarding to see his work recognized.

As for the biggest awards of the night...30 Rock took home the award for Outstanding Comedy Series and Mad Men took home the award for Outstanding Drama Series. Everyone that knows me tells me that I would love Mad Men and while I have not seen an episode yet, I was thrilled to see this show win! As a fan of 30 Rock, I was also thrilled to see this show acknowledged...it seemed like a no brainer.

Sarah McLachlan's performance for the "In Memoriam" segment was very moving. Let's not ever forget Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, Patrick Swayze, Ed McMahon, Paul Newman, Army Archerd, Beatrice Arthur, Nora O Brien, Natasha Richardson, Dom DeLuise, Karl Madden, and all of those who passed away this year.

This award ceremony was sponsored by Vaseline Sheer Infusion with Stratys-3 who selectively supported the Breakthrough Award, which True Blood won. The fans voted for this award, so congratulations True Blood!

NBC won 16 awards for the night! Check out Photos of The Office Cast at the Emmys. Also, check out Photos of the 30 Rock Cast at the Emmys.

This year's award show was a pleasure to watch and I cannot wait until next year!

A Smile From The Trenches

Los Angeles based band, A Smile From The Trenches released their debut EP “Leave The Gambling For Vegas” earlier this year and with an incredible growing fan base, and high praise for their cover of Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold,” the band is gearing up to re-release their EP with 3 bonus tracks under up and coming label DC Hardcore. I wanted to know more about the band, so while on tour, the band took some time out to answer all of my questions with a video!

A Smile From The Trenches will re-release “Leave The Gambling For Vegas” on October 13, 2009.

TV Week in Review

*Reviews May Contain Spoilers*

One Tree Hill - 4:30 AM (Apparently They Were Traveling Abroad)

Nathan: Bed. Now.
Jamie: Always keeping a brother down.

I don't know what I was expecting for the season premiere, but it was a sweet, lighthearted start to what is bound to be. The introduction to the 2 new characters, Quinn and Clay was done very well. Quinn has a much better head on her shoulders than Taylor does, so it will be interesting to see what she brings to the show. Possibly trouble will follow her instead of her creating trouble. We'll see. Will she stay at Haley & Nathan's house for the whole season or will she get her own place? Will she hook up with Clay since she left her husband and Clay is obviously into her? He seems like a nice guy...he seems like he will bring harmless fun to the group. What is not harmless fun is cheating on your wife, so hopefully Nathan did not sleep with the girl who is claiming to have been with him while Nathan was away playing basketball. This show knows how to bring the drama so I can't wait to see how this plays out. I am also interested to see when and how Skills will be out of Tree Hill as Antwon Tanner is dealing with legal issues in real life. So far, the setup of him eventually moving out of the apartment with Mouth has been set up perfectly...but how will he be written out of Tree Hill and will it be permanently? Only time will tell. Although the funniest moment of the episode had to be when Skills and Mouth were naked, saying "I love you" just as Millicent walked in the door. Anyway, as far as Brooke goes...I was never rooting for Brooke and Julian, but since he's "the one" for the time being, I've grown to accept it. All I have to say is he better not hurt her. Now I would have to say that while the girl that is about to start up drama with the Scotts is a highlight, another highlight of this episode is the possible closing of the record label. This was such an important moment not only because it shocked me but music is like another character on the show. So if the label indeed closes, I hate to say it but it seems like foreshadowing this possibly being the last season of the show. We'll see. Only time will tell! Last thing I want to mention is I am proud of Dan's growth as a human being from Season 1 to now. What a turnaround. Hopefully Haley & Nathan see his growth and allow Dan and Jamie to have more time together than we have seen. Lastly, I must say that had I not been so involved in the online community and so on and not known that Chad & Hilarie were officially done with the show, I really don't know how I would feel about this episode. But I really don't even want to go there so that's the end of that. So overall, I enjoyed the premiere. I think that I expected more drama but from the looks of what's coming up next week, we will be getting more drama very quickly!

Gossip Girl - Reversals of Fortune

Blair: What if we need games? What if without them we're boring?
Chuck: We could never be boring.
Blair: You say that but I know you. You're Chuck Bass.
Chuck: I'm not Chuck Bass without you.

This season premiere was a great set up to what I am sure will be an incredible season. The introduction of Bree was funny at first since Bree and Nate realized what they had gotten themselves into. Now that they know and have decided to keep going with the relationship, it's not so funny anymore because with their families as enemies...it just seems like a relationship that is doomed to fail. A relationship that is not doomed to fail...Chuck and Blair. Seeing them together, trying to figure out their relationship post summer fun is interesting to say the least. Somebody is bound to get hurt eventually in this relationship, probably more than once. I really think this season we will see just how well of a couple these two can be and if they work best as a couple or friends. Those that should remain jut friends...Serena and Dan. Dan deserves better. That's all there is to it. I'm so over Serena. Why does she feel the need to keep secret she has been looking for her dad all summer? Why is she putting the target of "bad guy" on Carter when it looks like he's actually been there for her this summer? Ugh. So over her. Anyway, as for Dan...I am not worried about the rich society and lifestyle corrupting him like Vanessa is. Dan was raised right and is very grounded, Vanessa of all people should see that. Nothing is going on with sis, Jenny...for now. We all know there will be some drama with her soon enough. There was no story development with the adults, so in time we should get some of that. The fashion, as always is spectacular! I can't wait to see what next week's episode will bring!

90210 - To Sext or Not to Sext

Navid: Look, I was a jerk. I ambushed Teddy because he was your ex and it was a stupid way to handle it. I should have just been upfront and told you that I didn't want the two of you to be friends
Adrianna: That's your apology?

This season really is off to an amazing start. I think I might just be watching the entire season. Naomi vs. her sister, who is more evil of the two? Will her sister be around for the entire season? I really don't think I can take all of that. Especially with her sister threatening Liam, who is not half as bad of a guy that he was made out to be last season. We now see that part of the problem has to do with the home life, his terrible stepfather. That was a nice revelation. Another nice revelation was finding out exactly who Teddy is. Although it was wrong for Navid to attack Teddy in the interview Teddy agreed to do. Navid was right in talking about what a good journalist does but he did put his feelings about Adrianna and Teddy get in the way of holding a respectful interview. Ad & Navid will work out, I'm sure this season. I hope. They are such a great couple! I'm not so sure about Dixon and Silver though. Honestly, they seem better without each other. While Silver can't see that now, I think they are best not together. As for Annie...I was so glad that Silver told Annie and Navid told Dixon about the sex text before it was sent out. Annie did not deserve that and it seems like all fun and games next week so I am confused as to when and how Annie & Dixon's parents will find out about this and what they will do. Next week looks like it will be a great episode. It seems like in this season, every episode will be better than the last.

Melrose Place - Nightingale

Violet: You and me, we're good girls. It's just not as fun.

Greg Beeman directed this episode and that was a thrill! I am so excited that he is part of the Melrose Place family, as I am a huge fan of his work from Heroes. Anyway, this show is getting so juicy...I think I am officially hooked! Violet is Sydney's daughter so does that take her out of the running for being the murderer or is that all the more reason she would be the murderer? Auggie seems like a higher suspect than Violet now but that just seem to be too easy if you ask me...if they want to keep us guessing. Ella likes to shake things up, so it was nice to see Riley and Jonah get past her antics. I'm sure Ella will be up to no good all season! Someone who did not intend to get caught up in a negative lifestyle is Lauren. I really hope that Lauren does not continue to sell her body to pay for staying the the doctor program. Please writers, write in a way where she receives money the right way! Please! I have nothing to say about David right now, his storyline just doesn't seem that important right now. I'm sure his thievery will catch up to him, but other than that...there's not much to say. That's about all there is to say for this episode. Next week looks like it will be a good episode as well!

Vampire Diaries - The Night of the Comet

Damon: I'm Damon, Stefan's brother.
Elena: He didn't tell me he had a brother.
Damon: Well, Stefan's not one to brag.

The introduction, while a good one makes me wonder if every introduction for the first few episodes will be like the first two. Hopefully not. This episode wasn't all that interesting. In fact, the scenes seemed to move too quickly for me to really get a hold what who is who outside of the main 3 and what everyone's relationship is between each other. Aside from that, this episode revolved around Vicki, who knew that a vampire attacked her but was persuaded by Stefan to believe an animal attacked her - and later persuaded by Damon that Stefan attacked her. What I want to know is will Vicki continue to be Damon's play thing or will he kill her eventually? Speaking of Damon, why does he want to make Stefan's life a living hell? What really happened between the brothers? Why did Stefan dismiss Elena and not Damon when Elena came to his house and shortly after Damon arrived? He could have left with Elena. Anyway, at home, Jenna tries to talk to Jeremy about how he is dealing with the death of his parents and later Elena talks to Jenna about being the parent now that their real parents are gone. It's a lot to deal with and it was nice to see more of Jenna in this episode and see how she is dealing with taking care of her niece and nephew. As far as the ending goes, did Damon just bite Caroline, kill her, scare her and then persuade her that it was a dream, etc... I want to know what happens and waiting until next week is killing me!

The Office - Gossip

Kelly: Well then what's the one true rumor?
Phyllis: We have a right to know.
Andy: Michael, am I gay?

The cold open was hilarious...and the chaos begins! Meredith freshening up in the bathroom and Andy's fall were the highlights of the cold open. It boggles my mind that there is even enough money to have 3 interns at the Scranton Branch. Then again, they need as many interns as they can get so work can get done! Michael, my favorite character brought the laughs! From the sports talk to the third wheel comment, to trying to create gossip in his own office in order to be "in" with everyone...hysterical! The reactions that everyone in the office gives as the rumors spread is quite funny, especially Andy's reaction to his rumor. As far as the revealing of the true rumor (at least one of them), it was equally funny as it was disturbing when Kevin was talking about how he was analyzing Pam's chest and how nothing added up. Even funnier was Michael's comment asking Pam & Jim how long they knew about the pregnancy...asking if they knew for a year. That brought the biggest laugh of the night. I didn't catch it the first time, but the second time I watched, I caught how Michael asked Jim if he peed on a stick and Jim said he did but it was inconclusive. What a stand out episode! It was also nice to see a familiar face appear in this episode as an intern, Max Carver from Desperate Housewives. Wow. The writing is still amazing, the actors are on point, and based on this episode, it looks like this season is going to be brilliant.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - The Gang Exploits the Mortgage Crisis

Sweet Dee: No, errands are really important but really the most important thing for me right now is for me to stay relaxed if you don't want my tubes to get all tensed up. So you want to go grab me a bathing suit or should I just jump in, in my birthday gear?

It has been too long since this show has been off air. Finally Sunny is back and with a bang. The cold open was the perfect opening for the new season. What a perfect way to start off the season with an episode exploiting the mortgage crisis with a side story of Sweet Dee attempting to be a surrogate. Of course flipping a house is not easy...especially when the house you are trying to flip is still owned by the people who live in it. What an incredible bunch of laughs this episode has brought. Just when I thought it couldn't get any funnier, the gang merges the two story lines which causes some really odd yet very entertaining chaos. The writing is sharp and it is just so exciting to have Sunny back into my Thursday nights. I can't wait until next week.
