DVD Review: Sherri The Complete Season One

If you've seen Sherri Shepherd in a comedy before or being the light of the conversation on The View, than you will definitely enjoy Sherri The Complete Season One which is on DVD today.

Run Time: 4 hours, 40 minutes + extras
Release Date: April 27, 2010

Actress, comedienne, author and co-host of ABC’s “The View,” Sherri Shepherd stars as Sherri Robinson, a single mother who juggles caring for her six-year-old son, Bo (Brandon Khalil), and working part-time as a paralegal, while still following her dream to become a full-time comedienne/ actress in SHERRI: THE COMPLETE SEASON ONE. The debut DVD release from this top-rated Lifetime series will be available this April on 3 discs featuring all 13 episodes and tons of bonus footage...only from A&E Home Entertainment!

Recently separated from her cheating husband, Kevin (Malcolm-Jamal Warner, “The Cosby Show”), Sherri finds solace and support from her girlfriends at the office: Celia (Tammy Townsend, “Lincoln Heights”), Angie (Elizabeth Regen, “The Black Donnellys”), and even her overbearing supervisor, Summer (Kali Rocha, “Grey’s Anatomy”). But, her life becomes even more complicated when Kevin reveals that Paula (Kate Reinders, “Ugly Betty”), the 20-year-old he had an affair with, is pregnant!

Sherri The Complete Season One brings laugh out loud comedy in every minute of its half hour airing. If you are a fan of Sherri Shepherd already, you will absolutely love this sitcom. While it is enlightening to watch a show based loosely on Sherri Shepherd's own life, it is much more entertaining to watch the situations Sherri is faced with with her ex-husband, 2 love interests, and work. The cliffhanger in the season finale really hooks viewers in for the next season, that is for sure. Now while the show is very amusing and will make you literally laugh out loud, there is an equal balance between comedy and facing reality as words of wisdom are spoken through the comedy. Women empowerment is a big theme on the show and don't worry, it's not a show that preaches feminism, but it is a show about surviving and dealing with what life has in store for you as opposed to what you have in store for you. My only concerns for the shows future are that...the racial jokes and comments should be toned down, well really cut out altogether and while the cast is great, the scenes should not continue to seem so rehearsed in the next season. All of the characters are likeable, possibly because we get to see how vulnerable they all are and this is only the beginning. This was a very well written first season so season two should be fabulous.

Special Feature:

Webisodes
(17:37) - There are 8 webisodes which show Sherri doing stand up comedy, a continuation of her brief stand up scene in an episode of the show. This comedy does not come close to the hilarity that Sherri creates in her real life stand up gigs and even her off the wall comments on The View. This is family friendly comedy and all spins off from an episode of the show in a sense...though the only webisode I found myself laughing out loud at was "Game Night." Bloopers would have been much more entertaining to watch and it would have been interesting to see the cast talk about what they think of the love triangle! Regardless, this was a pretty decent bonus feature and will definitely encourage people to check out Sherri doing stand up in real life for the real fun!

DVD Review: Rita Rocks The Complete Season One

After interviewing Rita Rocks star, Natalie Dreyfuss, I was very interested in checking out the sitcom. So I was thrilled when I received Rita Rocks The Complete Season One which is in stores today!

Run Time: 7 hours, 10 minutes + extras
Release Date: April 27, 2010

Nicole Sullivan (“MADtv”, “The King of Queens”, “Scrubs”) stars as Rita Clemens, an overworked wife, mother, and former lead singer of a Bangles cover band who has traded in a life of jam sessions and rock clubs for carpools and PTA meetings. Will she ever be able to hear that funky music again? Find out in this set jam-packed with 20 bangin’ episodes and rock-star worthy extras!

On the verge of a full-blown identity crisis, Rita struggles to maintain romance with her husband, Jay (Richard Ruccolo, “Two Guys and a Girl”), juggle the demands of her 9-year-old daughter, Shannon (Kelly Gould, “Lucky Louie”), and discipline her defiant teenage daughter, Hallie (Natalie Dreyfuss, He’s Just Not That Into You) and her ever-present boyfriend, Kip (Raviv Ullman, “Phil of the Future”). In an attempt to reconnect with her youth and with the hopes of putting some spark back in her life, Rita dusts off her guitar and forms a garage band with Kip, her nosy postal carrier Patty (Tisha Campbell-Martin, My Wife and Kids, Martin) and her unemployed neighbor Owen (Ian Gomez, “Sex and the City”).

Rita Rocks The Complete Season One is quite a delight for the whole family. The comedy gets better as each episode goes on and there's also quite a sweet story here that mothers especially can appreciate. Watching Rita really step up and take time out to enjoy life and just rock out despite her busy family & work life...this brings for lots of entertainment as viewers get to see how this affects her family and see Rita connect more with her random bunch of a garage band. The characters are very well written and all charming in their own way. The situations that the characters get into are all realistic. Well, maybe the cat fight towards the end of the season was a bit over the top but aside from that, everything is genuine. What was quite a smart choice was the decision to have the actors in the garage band sing themselves instead of lip singing to unknown singers. While you may have heard better garage bands, its not so much about how talented the band is as a whole, but how complete the band makes each band mate as an individual. What I think viewers enjoy the most about sitcoms is that they are direct with the comedy but under the comedy, there's a genuine heart to the show and this show does not disappoint in that regard. The show is simple but there is something to be learned and viewers can come to appreciate something in a new light in every episode. Rita Rocks encourages everyone to never let go of their goals (even if that means acting out those goals in a different way than you had imagined) because it will make a positive difference in not only your happiness and lifestyle, but will touch others as well.

Special Feature:

Music Video
(4:37) - The original song, "Somebody to Worry About" is performed by Rita Rocks cast, Nicole Sullivan, Tisha Campbell Martin, Raviv Ullman, and Ian Gomez. The lyrics and music are by Kathleen Wilhoite. The music video integrates the original scene where Rita performs the song and various bits of the season with behind the scenes footage from when the cast recorded the song. It's a sweet feature...the only fault is that there were no bloopers thrown into the music video or as a separate special feature. That's the one thing fans want to see on a sitcom DVD. Maybe there's a chance to see that on the Season 2 DVD?

TV Weeks in Review April 12 - April 23

*Reviews May Contain Spoilers*

Gossip Girl - The Unblairable Lightness of Being

Elliot: I love Dorota. We're tight now. We talked about The Vampire Diaries in the elevator on Friday.

Well, it seems my expectations for this episode were set too high. I thought that with Dorota's wedding as the backdrop, things would have been much more interesting. The drama tends to be quite high for certain events but this wasn't one of them. The only "bombshell" if you can even call it that was when Blair told Nate that Chuck used her for his hotel. I did not see that coming. I thought Blair's pride would keep her from telling anyone. As for where Blair and Chuck stand, well that is still quite a struggle to understand for the time being. Are the two even friends at this point? They will both need some time to mourn their break up and understandably so. Are Chuck & Blair meant to be together forever or is this the straw that breaks the camel's back? Then there's Serena who has been meeting with Carter for information on finding her father. This seems a bit out of the blue since last time I remember, Serena was fine not finding him. Regardless, it will be interesting to watch the reunion. Lastly, at this point, Rufus should be quite tired of Lily lying to him. It amazes me that he is still with the woman. If he finds out that she has been seeing her ex, will that be the straw that breaks the camel's back? Only time will tell. Though hopefully these last few episodes of the season aren't as lackluster as this episode.

90210 - Another, Another Chance

Adrianna: Can't I just play with the band in my spare time?

Laurel: Spare time? I don't think you grasp where your life is heading.

Adrianna talking to Navid for advice about Laurel's business proposition was harmless and understandable since Navid does in fact know her more than Gia. I believe Gia knows that so she should not feel angry on that front. In regards to Ad going to the part with the temptation of drinking, that is really the only thing that Gia should be concerned about. Especially since Navid is taken, Gia should not feel that threatened...unless she knows that Ad & Navid are meant to be together, why try? Why try? That's probably the question Ad asked herself when she caught Gia cheating on her so quickly. This just shows how insecure Gia is in a relationship, so thankfully Ad called it off. Ad will find the right one for her...don't think it is Gia. Lila seems to be taking Navid talking to Ad much better than, but then again, Navid is the best boyfriend in the world so she doesn't need convincing. Now I am so incredibly proud of Naomi for not taking her lie any further! The question is though, did it take Liam's confession of his love for her to encourage her to get to the truth? Had not that happened, would Naomi have taken her lie further? Will Naomi & Annie come clean to each other about all that has happened? It would be refreshing to see the two have a heart to heart. As far as Annie goes...Annie & Silver up to no good joy riding was not a smart move, regardless of Annie's deja vu. Honestly, Annie is such dead weight. She was somewhat interesting in the first season, but this season she is just a distraction and waste of screen time. As for her brother...kudos to Dixon for stepping up to the plate and asking Ivy out on a real date! I have really gotten used to the idea of a real relationship between the two, so looking forward to seeing their relationship blossom. Lastly, how fun was it to see Scott Peterson guest star as Liam's dad? It was quite cool and really good for Liam because Liam is at a point where he really needs his dad there. This was such a fabulous episode! Everyone got great screen time and everyone's story lines seem to have depth (except for Silver right now as I assume the writers don't want to put anything too heavy on her since her mother's death). I love the direction the show is going and am definitely looking forward to more.

Melrose Place - Wilshire

Lauren: Well, look at you. You've come along way since breaking and entering was your butter.

Amanda firing Ella just infuriates me and makes me root for Ella all the more. No matter how many rounds in this war, team Ella all the way. Things may be looking up for Ella on the business side of things but what about her break up with Jonah? Is there anything more to Jonah & Riley's kiss now that Jonah is single and even though Riley says there can't be? As for a less complicated love story, now that things are equally open among David & Lauren, David needs to find a way to cut loose Morgan. Will Lauren help in plotting this or will Morgan's plans to take David down come first? Why can't Morgan move on from this silly game? I'm not quite sure how old she is but regardless, she is immature, has no direction, and has too much time on her hands. How long will it take David to stand up to Morgan's father while protecting Lauren? As for Lauren...thankfully she went ahead with Drew's plea...too bad it took Drew to be taken away for her to smell the coffee and save her patient's life. Unfortunately with Drew more attached to this conflict than originally thought, will we be seeing Drew's funeral take place before the season is over? Let's hope not. The bar has been raised in this episode...looking forward to see how much higher the stakes will get and what everyone is willing to do for the sake of their well being. Great season finale. Honestly though, while this has been a great season, if the show were canceled, I believe The CW would be making room for many original shows so either way is a win-win for TV enjoyment.

V - John May

Georgie: It's bigger than me now Father.

What a thrill ride this was! In this episode, Ryan, Erica and Jack try to find John May, the first V to turn against Anna...the one who started the resistance and the one they need on their side. Well, things played out differently then I thought they would, as I assumed John's son would know all about his father. Turns out he was quite shocked to find out about who is father really was and finds out about his alien girlfriend. Thankfully, they took care of the girlfriend and seeing them on the run afterwords was quite thrilling! Though finding out that Ryan killed John May 10 years ago was upsetting since he wasted precious time the resistance could have used doing something else. For instance, Ryan needs to come clean to his wife, who is finding out the answers to the secret slowly anyway. It seems he is ready to tell, so it will be interesting to see where their relationship goes from here. So after Anna's John May message, the visitors on board were told about searching for those in the resistance but it is so nice to see the fifth column a step ahead...at least for the time being before Anna's army is born. What is not so uplifting is Anna's torture of Georgie to get information about the resistance. It was unfortunate that Georgie became a martyr for the cause but as Erica said, his death will not be in vain. Now as for Tyler, I was very upset when will Lisa told Tyler about his & Erica's secret to pit Tyler against his family. I tolerated Lisa in the beginning but now she is playing dirty so watching her evil plan play out is not fun! Now based on what Erica told Ryan and what we know about the visitors being on earth for quite some time...I'm putting the pieces together that Tyler's father was a visitor. Lastly, Chad saying that he wasn't buying Anna's lies but he would help her if she helped him...what? That was confusing. Did he mean that or is he just saying that so he can get more information and run his story anyway? Great episode, the story lines really furthered along so it was quite exciting to watch. I am looking forward to next week!

V - We Can't Win

Chad: They think you are a God.

Anna: Who does that make you?

Chad: A believer. Can I tell you what I believe? You are not just visitors, you are here to stay. But, are you here for our benefit or for yours?

This episode did not grab my interest very much. Sure, Anna scared Chad into continuing to follow her and help support her in presenting "a gift of technology" to the world. Though t would be more interesting if Chad joined the resistance and worked from the inside instead of just being Anna's puppy dog for the sake of his own safety. Sure, Lisa failed the test on board the visitor ship and Joshua told Anna she passed for blackmail. But it would be more interesting if Lisa genuinely joined the resistance or at least fell in love with Tyler and was killed because of her actions. Sure, Ryan killed the doctor who was about to kill pregnant Valerie. But Valerie slows him down and I'd like to see Ryan do more with the resistance. There's much more story there to be told there than at home. Sure John May lives (literally?) but even still there are humans who betray the resistance because of disbelief in winning the war, so how many sides are there now? Will those humans who are surrendering in a sense be a huge problem for the resistance? There's much more conflict that can occur. So let's bring on the heavy drama. We can handle it. This episode was far too slow for me. Looking forward to more of a pick up next week.

Ugly Betty - Hello Goodbye

Marc: Whatever it is, any drama that you have, I don't need it! So what's up?

What a touching finale. I can't believe it has come. Everything was wrapped up just as expected in a sense and yet there was still a bit of shock factor. Betty is so fortunate to be heading off to London for her new job though it was unfortunate that Daniel found out before Betty could tell him and that Betty didn't allow enough time for Daniel to process this. It was hard watching Daniel sign Betty out of her contract. They have been through so much, for it to end so abruptly from Daniel's point of view...that hurts. So it was good to know that the two were amicable after Betty's departure. Daniel stepping down, putting Wilhelmina in charge and Daniel starting anew was a dream come true for the both of them and the best decisions in the end. Mode is in fabulous hands and Daniel does not need to be in the same environment that has provided him with more negativity recently than positivity. He hasn't been the same since Molly's death, so to start fresh completely this time around was a joy to see. As for Willie, announcing at the press conference that she accidentally shot herself while cleaning her gun was quite unexpected but a great move. Willie has a heart and it wouldn't be a fitting ending without seeing some of that! Speaking of heart...Amanda finding out who her dad is was quite a moment, not as anticipated as others but still just as significant. Being in touch with her family will definitely help her be more grounded in regards to her next career steps for sure. This was such a fabulous end to such a beautiful show. This show has made me laugh, cry, make my jaw drop, and more over the years...and to see everyone moving on to the point in their lives that will make them the most happy makes me very happy so great finale and thanks for all of the dramedy!

Vampire Diaries - Under Control

Damon: We are who we are Stef. Drinking doesn't change that.

What an exciting episode! Maybe I was trying to deny that Stefan is like a monster, but even seeing it, I am not too worried. No matter what he does (whether he is in control of his vampire side or not, drunk or not), he does not seem like he could be as careless and shallow as Damon. Hopefully he will never physically hurt Elena. If he did, the two will need to re-evaluate their relationship. I do have to say though, I loved when Damon said, "Have I entered an alternate universe where Stefan is fun?" because this episode really displayed well a whole other side to Stefan that is both dangerous and yet still fun and exciting...from a distance. Speaking of exciting, Damon was cutting up all throughout the episode. Everything that came out of his mouth was a joke. He was quite the comedian in this episode...perhaps the funniest he has been all season. I guess that's what a council party with booze will do to you. As for true danger...how does Elena and Jeremy's Uncle John know everything about the town and the vampires? How can he be stopped from whatever his plan is? He worries me, so I am definitely looking forward to the vampires possibly joining together to take him down. Speaking of joining together...will Jeremy really join Anna in becoming a vampire? Or after reading more of Elena's diary and putting the pieces together about Vicki's death, will he back off...or worse speak up? Would he turn against Elena since she has accepted and moved on from Vicki's death or would he stick by his sister? After finding out that Elena is adopted and is dating a vampire, that's a lot of trust to maintain between the two. Only time will tell how things turn out in the trust department. Lastly, who has been taking blood from the hospital if Anna's family isn't doing it? Is Katherine in town? That might be far fetched but who knows what can happen. Looking forward to seeing more layers of Stefan first and foremost.

Vampire Diaries - Miss Mystic Falls

Great episode! Finding out that Stefan is the one stealing from the hospital while understandable now was quite shocking! What else will he do behind closed doors? I guess his breaking point has come with Amber so it's not so much behind closed doors to those who know about the vampires. Though it is only a matter of time until he breaks in public. Hopefully I am wrong about that but then again, that would bring the drama to an entirely new level. On a lighter note, Damon being there for Elena at the Founders event was such a gentleman move. These two would be great in laws! Damon can play bad boy all he wants but he is a true gentleman when he needs to be and when push comes to shove, he has a heart and is smart with the choices that he makes. Let's see if Stefan will learn a thing or two about that from Damon in his time of need. Speaking of need...or want, does Jeremy want to become a vampire knowing all that he knows now? Jeremy confronting Anna about her using him to get his blood for her mother was a smart move on his part. Showing that he is not intimidated might make him more likable to Pearl. Who knows. But now that he has read Elena's journal, it will be very interesting to see how he reacts around her and the vampires. What I am really anticipating now is if Jeremy will tell Elena that he knows everything, if he will wait for her to say something, or if a certain situation makes things public so that everyone knows. Lastly, even though Bonnie doesn't want Elena to choose sides, will her hatred ultimately be too strong and lead to the end of her friendship with Elena and/or lead to Bonnie uncovering the vampires to the town? Hopefully it doesn't come to the latter. Elena does need to give Bonnie a breather and let her grieve and get her mindset straight. Knowing that she is a witch, I'd give her all the time that she needs. Overall, this was a very powerful episode because we really got to see how much of a monster Stefan has been holding back. This is only the beginning.

Flash Forward - Let No Man Put Asunder

Demetri: Do you remember that speech you gave my first day on the job? It was all about being the kind of person who could be counted on to do the right thing at the right time. And man, since October 6th when I didn't see anything, I have had a lot of trouble being that person. And I need your help.

This was quite an intriguing and eye opening episode! Viewers get to see 2 years before the blackout when Marc was welcoming in Demetri, Janis, Al, Marcie, and others to the force as FBI agents. It was so good to see Al again! It was quite disturbing though to find out that those 4 mentioned above were a team back then and now only 2 remain loyal to the FBI since one is dead and Marcie became the mole. It is so heartbreaking to believe that Marcie felt the most important when she was in incarcerated in her flash forward. Since Zoey is doing all she can to help (missing) Mark...maybe, possibly she can help set Marci straight while also getting the answers she needs to help Demetri. Finding out how Demetri & Zoey first met was so adorable! My only concern switching back to present day was that Demetri deciding to run off to Hawaii and marry her and possibly not come back until April 29th if at all was Demetri trying to run away from death. Some moments he seems accepting of his March 15th death fate and others he really wants to fight to survive, so it s just hard to keep up with where his head is at. No one can knock him down for that but it will be quite interesting to see how he approaches life if he does survive after that date. Hopefully he won't do anything reckless that will get him into any dangerous positions...leading him to death anyway! That would be horrible. Overall, this was quite an enjoyable episode. Viewers could sit back, relax, and get back stories and getting to know the characters better is what will help us understand the decisions they are making now for the present and future, so great writing!

Flash Forward - The Garden of Forking Paths

Frost: The point is, once we've glimpsed it, the future wants to happen. It gains weight. It's like atmospheric pressure bearing down. And if we want to escape that pressure, we have to do something drastic.

This episode packed quite a punch as there was quite a lot of action and much was revealed. Who exactly is this stranger that warned Olivia and what does she have to worry about now? I am looking forward to more development with this story line very soon! Now while Olivia was not a main focus (yes, for some reason I am anticipating more from Olivia each and every week), Charlie played a big part tonight as more of her flash forward was shared. It was interesting to see Olivia and Mark debate about whether or not Olivia should see a professional for therapy because that is quite a tricky decision to make for someone so young. Hopefully her flash forward will not leave her too damaged. Speaking of damaged...as fate has it, Demetri was not meant to die on March 15th. This definitely was not a surprise, but the way that he was put in his close to death experience and got out of it sure was. Correct me if I'm wrong but before the show returned this Spring, a preview showed Mark saying to Demetri something along the lines of, "I should have killed you when I had the chance." I don't believe this line has been said yet in an aired episode, so it is only a matter of time until this happens...and with the finale in one month, a lot of drama is in store in so little time. Of course I am anticipating each moment! With the revelation of "the end" on December 12, 2016, will there be more than 2 flash forwards? Will there be flash forwards until the end so that people have opportunities to make things right in time? Is "the end" the real end of the world in this flash forward universe or is it not that complex? Can Frost's "garden of forking paths" be put back together with just Mark & Demetri? What is significant that was in those flash forwards and what is now not significant? This was such a fabulous episode and much needed as I have a theory that Demetri's life plays a vital part in the fate of the world. There are so many questions to be answered and it just keeps getting more and more compelling as the questions are answered, so I am definitely looking forward to what is next. Are you?

The Office - Secretary's Day

Michael: Who doesn't tell their girlfriend that they were engaged to someone who works 4 feet away from them? That's like, that's like Mr. & Mrs. Smith crap.

The cold open was hilarious! Everyone, even Dwight & Angela amused by Kevin as the cookie monster brought quite the laughs! Seeing Angela smile was a rare treat! Everyone except Kevin of course enjoyed the joke but Kevin's imitation of the IT guy...oh wait, he's not the IT guy anymore...was pretty funny as well. But getting to the real focus of the episode...Andy went all out in reminding everyone about Secretary's Day and even went the extra step in telling Michael to go out to lunch with Erin on this special day. I bet he didn't think the dinner would result in Erin finding out about his engagement with Angela. It was surprising to see the overwhelmed and angry side of Erin since up to this point we've only seen the jolly side. This is just a preview of what Andy can expect if he chooses to marry her eventually. Also, what's up with Michael's irritation over Erin? Since when has he found her weird? Because he certainly didn't think that in previous episodes. This seems to come out of the blue, so it will be interesting to see if there is consistency with this new revelation. My favorite moments of the episode include when Michael talks with Andy about how he should have told Erin about the engagement and Andy's talking head in his 5 stages of denial. Last but not least, Pam is back! Unfortunately for her that means dealing with twisted characters, Meredith and Dwight. Fortunately for us viewers that means lots more comedy will ensue. This was a great return to the show after a brief hiatus and I am looking forward to the last few episodes of the season.

Bobby Coleman In The Last Song

You've read the book since my review and seen the film since its release earlier this month, and now The Last Song star Bobby Coleman is here to talk about his role in the hit movie. Check it out:

Can you tell me how your audition went for the role of Jonah in The Last Song?
In the audition, there was one part that was kind of hard and that was when I had to cry. That's always nerve wrecking and hard but the audition went well and I think it went well in the film too. That was the big thing I was nervous about going into the audition. Also, at the audition I had short hair because I had shot a film earlier, Snowmen where I had to shave my head since I played a cancer patient. So I went in thinking I probably wasn't going to get it...I had never had short hair going into an audition but when I walked in, Tish (Cyrus) said, "Finally a kid with short hair."

What did you bring to your character that wasn't originally there?
On set we would just play around and adlib. They took out this line but it' in the trailer, "Vegetarian dad, she's been a vegetarian for a year and a half. It's ridiculous." Different thinks like that I added.

That's pretty interesting since, aren't you a vegetarian?
Yeah, I have been vegetarian for 6 years. This past 3 months I have started eating chicken so that I can get a little more protein. I think I'm going to go back to being a vegetarian when I stop growing.

Now was it your choice to become vegetarian or is your family vegetarian?
It was totally my decision. I was 6 years old when I put together how the chicken that I was eating was the chicken that I play with and feed when I'm at the zoo. So that's when I decided that I would be vegetarian and umm it's been fun. My parents and my sister are not vegetarian at all.

What was your favorite part about filming on the East Coast rather than at home in California?
There are tress and plants and life everywhere. There are trees here, in like a designated park but there its wildlife everywhere and such a beautiful beach. At home we live an hour away from the beach and even though we are close, we don't go very often but while filming we went quite often and it was beautiful.

Since the film is based in the summer, I want to know what are you looking forward to doing this summer?
I don't know...just hanging out with my friends. I just went on a trip with my friends over Spring Break to the Grand Canyon and that was a lot of fun.

What did you take from your relationship with your real life sister and apply to your relationship with your on screen sibling, Miley Cyrus?
Me and my sister don't really fight at all. We are really good friends. Ronnie and Jonah aren't as good friends...there are a couple of moments where you see that we love each other - and then we turn around and snap at each other. They fight just a little bit more but in the movie and in real life, we know we love each other.

Now what are your upcoming projects?
I finished Robosapien. In the movie, I find a hi-tech robot person. I fix it up and he becomes my friend in the movie. I have no idea when that is coming out. Then there's Snowmen that's playing at the Tribeca Film Festival, so that is exciting. I think my dad & I are going to go and have a great time so I'm excited about that. I play a cancer patient and it was a hard movie to do but it was also fun too since we filmed in Utah when it snowed.

The Last Song is in theaters now and in bookstores now.

Review: AMERICA THE STORY OF US Episode 1

Tonight, history fans can begin to watch America The Story of Us, a new 12-hour/6 night series on the History Channel, which shares 400 years of our nation’s history...introduced tonight by President Obama.

America The Story of Us tells the extraordinary story of how America was invented, looking at the moments where Americans harnessed technology to advance human progress— from the rigors of linking the continent by transcontinental railroad, the internet of its day, to triumphing over vertical space through construction of steel structured buildings. The series is also a story of conflict – with Native American peoples, slavery, the revolutionary war that birthed the nation, the Civil War that divided it and the great world war that shaped its future.

Narrated by Liev Schreiber, America The Story of Us does not start out as a very intriguing series. Yes, it shares our country's history, starting from May 1610 to 1775 in the first episode but no, it does not give any new insight into any of these historical events. This is definitely not The People Speak. Viewers with knowledge of The Mayflower, Pocahontas, John Adams, the creation of the 13 colonies, and The Battle of Lexington have nothing to gain from the first episode that will air. This is however a good educational tool for middle school children. Elementary children will be bored to death and high school students should know all of this history at this point, so its best fit would be the middle school audience. The most interesting parts of the first episode and can really help viewers of all ages reevaluate and possibly come to more of an appreciation and/or better understanding of America in future episodes are the moments that feature powerful figures including Colin Powell, Sheryl Crow, Meryl Streep, Michael Douglas, Buzz Aldrin, Bill Maher, Rosie Perez, and many more. They share their thoughts about what went down in history and being American and historical consultants Professor Daniel Walker Howe and Professor David M. Kennedy are talking heads as well. Colin Powell and Donald Trump actually makes brief appearances among others in the first episode. Though since their appearances are short, their brief opinions do not give enough for viewers to stop and discuss. It would be nice to compare history with the contemporary thoughts of today's role models and today's history, but little time is given to even get those thoughts. Aside from that, the acting is swell, the editing is fine (for what it was going for) but overall this series is quite ordinary. Perhaps it will become more intriguing as each night goes on...

America The Story of Us premieres tonight at 9pm ET.

President Barack Obama To Open "America The Story of Us"

President Barack Obama will introduce America The Story of Us, a new 12-hour/6 night series on HISTORY, sharing reflections on the spirit and resilience that continue to shape our country and covering 400 years of our nation’s history.

America The Story of Us, the largest programming event the network has ever undertaken, tells the extraordinary story of how America was invented, looking at the moments where Americans harnessed technology to advance human progress— from the rigors of linking the continent by transcontinental railroad, the internet of its day, to triumphing over vertical space through construction of steel structured buildings. The series is also a story of conflict – with Native American peoples, slavery, the revolutionary war that birthed the nation, the Civil War that divided it and the great world war that shaped its future.

America The Story of Us also includes the most extensive education initiative History has ever launched in association with a broadcast. The full series will be made available on DVD to every school and accredited college in the country, and additional educational resources and grant contests will be offered to students, faculty and institutions. Resources for teachers will be created in collaboration with the Library of Congress.

America The Story of Us premieres Sunday, April 25, at 9pm ET.

Stay tuned for my advanced review of the premiere episode!

Interview: Jessica Sierra

Since making the top 10 on Season 4 of American Idol, singer/songwriter Jessica Sierra has been on quite a ride. After Idol, the Florida native sang on a 44-city sold-out arena tour with fellow Idol contestants, including Bo Bice, Constantine Maroulis and Carrie Underwood and performed for the U.S. troops in Iraq and Kuwait! But over time, Jessica had a few run-ins with the law...bringing her to Dr. Drew Pinsky in 2008 for VH-1's Celebrity Rehab. Today, Jessica is two years sober and raising her first child, Kayden, and is back in the music scene and ready to talk all about it! With her much anticipated album coming out this summer and the release of her new single, “Enough,” there's lots to share...keep reading for more.

What is the sound of the album?
The sound has a little bit of everything...rock, blues, soulful kind of music. I love all types of music so I wanted it to have the feel of all types of music. The album kind of tells a story and every song has a meaning, it is something that has happened to me. I co-wrote all of the songs with my producer.

Did you know what you wanted your sound to be on Idol or did you find it afterwords?
I think I would have to say after. I always knew what kind of music I wanted to sing but there wasn't really any music that connected with the music that I wanted to get out there. So connecting with people out here in LA and hearing so many different sounds, I have found it.

What was the most challenging song to write?
"I'm You" has to do with my mother and I think that song was hard to really dig deep and get it out on paper.

Now that you are a mother, how has your son, Kayden inspired and helped you?
Now that I'm a mom, everything I do from the way that I dress, speak, and present myself...he factors into all of that. I know I've done things in my past and I'm trying to move forward and I want him to see the positive things when he gets older. I want to be a positive role model.

Will you have him watch VH1's Celebrity Rehab when he gets older to see what you went through?
I have thought about that. I don't want to hide anything from him, so when he is old enough, if he wants to watch it he can and if he asks questions, I'll be there to answer. I don't want anything to be a big secret. People are going to say things so I want him to know the facts.

Did you have writer's block while writing the album?
It was really different for me to write sober and get in touch with my emotions. For the first year and a half - 2 years, really the past 6 months I have been able to sit down and really write. Before I was trying to force it and I was aggravated that I couldn't put what I wanted into words but after some time and working with my producer, I've snapped out of that.

Having toured the country with Idol, what city would you say you are most excited about visiting when you promote your album?
I'm excited to go back home to Florida and I really love New York!

Book Review: You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up

Will you marry me?

Whether you've answered this question before, whether you've always dreamed of getting married or never dreamed of getting married, there's a book out there that's quite enlightening for us all. You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up: A Love Story by Annabelle Gurwitch and Jeff Kahn is a very honest and candid memoir following Annabelle & Jeff from the moment Jeff had his mind set on her more than 13 years ago all the way to the jealousy formed through the good ol' Facebook wall in 2009.

After thirteen years of marriage, Annabelle Gurwitch and Jeff Kahn have found, “We’re just not that into us.”

Instead of giving up, they’ve held their relationship together by ignoring conventional wisdom and fostering a lack of intimacy, using parenting as a competitive sport, and dropping out of couples therapy. The books includes their moving yet unsentimental account of the medical odyssey that their family embarked upon after their infant son was diagnosed with VACTERL, a rare series of birth defects. Annabelle and Jeff’s unforgivingly raw, uproariously funny martial memoir proves that in marriage, all you need is love—and a healthy dose of complaining, co-dependence, and Pinot Noir.

Serving up equal parts sincerity and cynicism, their he said, she said memoir is sure to strike both laughter and terror into the hearts of any couple (not to mention every single man or woman who is contemplating the connubial state).

You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up
is one of the most entertaining books you will read this year. I knew going in that reading a book written by 2 Hollywood writers would be entertaining but this went beyond my expectations. Maybe it is because I don't see myself getting married, just as Annabelle once did yet if I did, I would be more hands on all around like Jeff (in regards to holidays, friendly gestures, and ya know, being romantic). So the he said/she said format was a very smart move because their individual personalities really shine through as opposed to co-writing a relationship book with no indication of who has written what parts. The format used really gives readers insight into why their relationship is the way it is and what to expect from them until death do them part...or until they split (which if they do, we will know why after reading the book)! Talk about a love story. Though aside from the comedic tone (it's quite hilarious!), it is very touching to read about their journey thus far, which is divided into chapters on how they met, moving in together, sex, relationships with the in-laws, raising a child with VACTERL, discussing what they don't like (and ultimately tolerate...I mean love) about each other in therapy, and so much more. To remind the readers that they are not reading a fiction story that could be a romantic comedy show on HBO or Showtime, very interesting relationship facts are shared at the end of each chapter and there is a quote (sometimes funny, sometimes profound) that introduces each chapter. Though there was one TMI moment in the book, when the two began to discuss the birth of their son and what they were surprised to find. I don't have a problem being educated on medical conditions but I'm pretty sure Ezra would not want the world to know that he was born without a ________. Also, no matter what the topic at hand, Jeff has no problem bringing it right back to what's really on his mind. Sex. This made it quite hard to read next to my younger sister when sitting next to her in the car...as I was holding the book so close together I could barely read it, for fear she would look over, see the word, "pussy," and ask me what in the world I was reading. In all seriousness though, this book really does not enforce any reason why I don't want to get married, nor does it encourage me to change my mind to get married. It is a simple yet very detailed storytelling of one couple's fascinating and challenging journey. What a compromising, I mean content, I mean lovely journey it is.

You Say Tomato, I Say Shut Up by Annabelle Gurwitch and Jeff Kahn is available in bookstores now.

Pretty Little Liars Promo Poster

Check out the promo poster for the newest ABC Family original series, Pretty Little Liars, a one-hour scripted drama based on a popular book series of the same name, and stars Lucy Hale (Privileged), Holly Marie Combs (Charmed), Chad Lowe (24), Laura Leighton (Melrose Place), Ian Harding, Bianca Lawson, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, and Sasha Pieterse.

What an incredible all star line up! So thrilled to see Holly Marie Combs back on the small screen as my favorite television series of all time is Charmed so I will support anything this woman does. Same goes for Lucy Hale, as I am a fan of her work, including Privileged which was gone too soon. Aside from the very talented cast, the preview looks great if you haven't seen it. I'll be tuning in. Will you?

Vampire Diaries & Odd Details from Kelly Hu

You remember her as Lady Deathstrike in X2 but today Kelly Hu can be seen on The CW's hit series, The Vampire Diaries playing a vampire alongside Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. But that's not all! Kelly recently shot a Joel Silver Pilot which she also talks about below and boy was I in for a shock when I asked for the details! Check it out:

Picture Above Left to Right: Nina Dobrev and Kelly Hu

So had you seen Vampire Diaries prior to being attached to the series?
No, I hadn't but as soon as I was cast, I watched every episode because I wanted to know what was going on with the storyline and of curse my friend, Ian Somerhalder is on the show. I have to admit, after the first few episodes, I was hooked. It is a really fun show to watch.

What's your favorite part about playing a vampire?
It's a lot of fun to play characters that aren't real, that don't exist because you have a lot more freedom and can go so much further. At the same time, with this it is kind of tricky to play a vampire because it is still within that realm of believability, so it is kind of a challenge but it is really fun to be able to do it.

Why do you think vampires are such a craze in American popular culture right now?
I think the vampires that are being portrayed right now are really sexy. I don't know that they were really portrayed that way in the past, aside from Interview with a Vampire. That's when I started finding vampires really sexy. The Lost Boys too. I think the powers & their strength are intriguing too since vampires can go so much further in life since they are so much harder to kill.

What is your favorite characteristic about Pearl?
I like her strength. She is so powerful but yet still very sophisticated, still a lady. You usually don't get a lot with female vampires. You usually see a vixen but Pearl is a classy business woman. I think it has a lot to do with her era and her life experience, since she has been a vampire for about 550 years. She has realized that in order to survive for so long as a vampire, one really has to be smart and be able to exist in the world by being respectable.

Would you want to live for hundreds of years?
I think it would be really cool to live for hundreds and hundreds of years because you really get to see how the world develops. I wish that I could be alive 150 years from now just to see everything, like how technology progresses.

What did you think of your Victorian wardrobe the first time you saw it for the episode, Children of the Damned?
When I first got to do the fitting for it, I was so excited about it! Because as an Asian girl, you never really get to wear corsets since usually you are playing the maid or something. So it was really thrilling to be able to finally do that...but it was thrilling for all of about an hour. It became so painful so quickly! I don't know how women back then did it. I was really glad to be finally over with shooting then. (laughs)

Do you enjoy voice over work more than in front of the camera work?
I kind of do in some ways because it is so specific. All you are listening to is your voice, how you articulate...it's just about the way you sound. You don't have to think about how you look on camera or if you are hitting your correct mark. It's really freeing in that sense. But of course being able to do action on camera instead of just screaming and grunting is a lot more fun.

Well speaking of action...having done X-Men 2, what comic books would you like to see turned into films and act in?
There is an amazing comic out called SHE that is pretty cool. There is another one called Jade. Both are Asian women leads who are very sexy and both comic books are very action packed. I think those would be fun to do.

What can you tell me about the CBS Pilot, The Odds?
I am actually in Vegas right now on the last day of the shoot. It's a Joel Silver Pilot and it takes place in Vegas, although we shot a lot of it in Albuquerque. I play an assistant district attorney, so no action going on for me. Donald Faison plays one of the lead characters. Women are going to fall in love with Sullivan Stapleton. It is kind of a procedural like the CSI brand but it is funny like The Hangover.

Hmm. That sounds like a 10 o'clock time slot.
Yeah, it might be because it is a bit risqué, I have to admit. The opening scene is pretty much my ass (laughs). Joel Silver is edgy (laughs) but I don't know if CBS will air that, so we'll see.

That is interesting that Joel Silver is tied to your next project since he executive produced a past CBS vampire series, Moonlight. Have you seen that?
No, I haven't but I have heard about it. It might have been just too ahead of its time. I heard it was really good though.

Lastly, what are your upcoming projects?
I have an indie film I did in New York called, Almost Perfect although I am unsure when it will be released so keep your eyes open for that.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.

Sarah Hyland Talks About Modern Family

Though I didn't know it then, Sarah Hyland played Molly in the classic 1999 movie musical, Annie and has since performed in the Broadway production, Grey Gardens and appeared on many television shows, including One Life to Live, Lipstick Jungle (a favorite of mine), and currently, ABC's hit comedy, Modern Family. In the new interview below, Sarah gives Hollywood the Write Way a inside feel for what goes on on the set of Modern Family...check it out:

What was your favorite part about filming in Hawaii?
It was so beautiful! I had never been to Hawaii and I brought my boyfriend with me so it was so much fun. It was so pretty. The first day we shot, there was a rainbow and under the rainbow were whales breaching behind a sailboat and it was the most surreal experience, it really was beautiful.

What can you tell us about the upcoming Hawaii episode?
Haley goes on a little adventure. She goes off with some friends and learns some lessons the hard way.

Is there a lot of room for improv?
They do allow room for that but I like to stick to the script since that's what I'm used to. There was one day where Fred Willard was on set since he played my Grandpa. Fred, Eric Stonestreet, and Ty Burrell literally improved for 10 minutes straight and then somehow flowed right back into the scene. It was amazing and thank God I was off camera because I was laughing so much.

Who would you like to work with more on the show?
I would love to work with SofĂa Vergara. She is hilarious and she is so beautiful and I just love her so much as a person. It would be so much fun to have more scenes with her, one on one.

Who would you like to see guest star on the show?
I would love to see Russell Brand or Gabourey Sidibe. She and I really clicked during the award show season so it would be so much fun to see her on the show.

What has been the most challenging scene to shoot?
I would have to say the driving scene where I had to learn for my driver's test. It was hard because I never had to drive a car and do a scene at the same time. There was a lot of thinking on my part, so that was probably the hardest scene that I have ever had to do.

What has been your favorite moment on the set but off the screen so far?
We were filming at a night club and Sofia couldn't remember our wardrobe person's name, Cassandra so she kept calling her Calabasas. I think it was moreso funny like you had to be there. It was hilarious, I was dying.

As I am a huge musical fan and you were in Annie…can we expect you to do any more work in the musical world?
If a musical comes my way, I am open to doing it. I love singing, it has always been passion of mine. I won't rule that out but I won't be the actress that's like, "Hey, I have an album coming out." But if a musical opportunity comes my way, I am very open.

Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on ABC.

Interview: Author, Dee Sanderson

First-time author Dee Sanderson has written the definitive guide to avoiding the pitfalls of a bad relationship and surviving the cheating spouse in How To Marry A Loser Without Even Trying. The semi-auto biography touches on themes of responsibility, accountability, love and loss. Recently, Dee took some time out to talk to Hollywood the Write Way about her book, so check out what she had to say below:

When did you decide that you were going to write this novel and how did you decide on the topic?
It was right after the end of my marriage. I kept trying to make my marriage work until I hit a really low point. I go into the details in the book and at the end of the marriage, a light bulb went off...all this stuff that just happened was so obvious. The choices that I made over the years were not so great and it just became clear that I had something to say about getting into and maintaining a relationship. So here's everything that I did wrong and maybe I can stop someone from making the same mistakes. It took me a few months to get everything down. You mentioned how it's comedic and sometimes you just have to laugh your way through the pain. When I looked back I would think, "That was really dumb. Why would I do that?" If you can laugh at yourself and not take yourself too seriously, it opens the door to invite others in and let them hear and learn from your story.

What was the most challenging chapter to write?
I actually split that into 2 chapters. The day that things ended in my marriage was a really bad day. There was some physical altercations and police involved. Reliving that experience was hard and in writing the blow by blow of how we got to that place was emotionally really hard. It's probably the most serious part of the book. I try to laugh at little things but at the end I talk about how far I had to sink to really wake up and realize that I was trying to stay in something that was not worth it.

Which chapter went through the most re-writes?
The chapter where I talk about honesty, there was a lot in there where I had to think about what honesty meant and how I could get my feelings across to the readers so that was edited quite a bit. When I talk about myself also, I just went for it and didn't censor myself so there are family TMI alerts throughout the book. I thought, "Well, my mom and dad might not want to read that" so that's why I added those TMI alerts so they would know when to skip a few pages.

How in depth was your outline when you began the process?
This book really fell out of the sky and into my head so I knew that I needed to talk about who I was, why I was writing the book, and tell my story. So I started with that and then realized that I wanted to break down characteristics or warning signs. So as I did that, those became the chapters. There's a chapter on honesty, there's a chapter credit, there's a chapter sex, and my favorite chapter is when I talk about my proposal. It was something that could have been straight out of a movie so it was fun to remember and write about. So the outline started out small and as I really organized my thoughts, it really grew.

What did you learn about yourself while writing this?
You know, I learned that I'm pretty funny...I was actually making myself laugh a bit as I looked back. But on a deeper level, I realized that throughout my life I've been a very practical person and did not put much thought into woman's intuition. When I look back at different turning points, my intuition was pushing me in the right direction and I wasn't listening. So as I was writing and reading the book, I realized that woman's intuition is a real thing and I learned how to really listen to that from looking back on my experience.

What is the one piece of advice you would give someone on how to avoid a bad relationship or maintain a good one?
The chapter about honesty...the first time someone shows you who they really are, believe them. Don't make excuses for them. Even if you think it is not a big deal, that is a habit. It will almost always lead to something bigger. Listen to that inner voice and when someone is showing you their true colors, you cannot ignore it. Pay attention.

Can you talk about the possibility that it may be adapted into a play?
What is so interesting is that I hadn't planned for any of that but about 60% of the people who have read the book ask if this will be turned into a movie or play. So I started again outlining how I would change it for the different medium. I think books generally lend themselves better to the stage because you have more exposition than in film...which is why I am looking at a play. So that is definitely in the works right now. I am a fan of starting in a local theatre and working the kinks out before going into Off Broadway or Broadway right away so we'll see where it goes from an LA production.

What are you currently working on?
I am starting a new advice column, Love & Relationships which runs in the Spring & Summer. I have several other books that I want to write but I'm just focusing right now on adapting this book into a play.

I know you are a fan of sci fi, have you written a sci fi screenplay?
You've touched on something closed to my heart. Yes, I am a huge fan of sci fi. I grew up watching Star Trek, Doctor Who, & I love Outer Limits. I have a sci fi story that I have been working on since before I was married. It's a big story so over the years I'd pick it up and put it down, pick it up, put it down...and in the last few months I have been writing it as a screenplay but there is just so much detail. The format of a screenplay is very limiting as a writer, but as a director you can express yourself in many ways. But I decided to convert it into a novel for now since there is so much back story and depth.

If someone told you a few years ago that you would be writing an advice column on love & relationships, would you have believed them?

I would not! It's silly that I wouldn't have. When I am hanging out with my girls, I'm the person who is asked, "What do you think I should do?" I was just always helping my friends out but now I realize I have the platform to help more people out so it is great.

DVD Review: The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 1

The Real Housewives of New Jersey made quite an incredible debut on Bravo last Spring and this spring, you can relive it all on DVD!

In The Real Housewives of New Jersey - for the first time in the history of the series -- the ladies are more than just friends, as the cast includes two sisters (Caroline and Dina Manzo), who are married to two brothers, and one sister-in-law (Jacqueline Laurita), bringing a whole new level of familial drama to the table. Raising the emotional stakes and making things even a bit more volatile is Danielle Staub, the most controversial cast member with an ugly secret that ultimately tests alliances and friendships. And, while family remains a priority for each of these women, their shopping, decorating, dating and even fighting are all over-the-top in an explosive, bling-filled season you’ll not soon forget.

Release Date: April 6, 2010
Rating: N/A
Running Time: 7 hrs, 52 mins + extras

The Real Housewives of New Jersey follows 5 women in Northern New Jersey who aren't exactly as entertaining as Bravo's other housewives and don't exactly make Jersey proud with their words and actions. Three members of the cast are related, as Caroline and Dina are sisters and Jacqueline is their sister in law. There is no doubt about it that Jacqueline seems the most sane of all of the housewives. She tries to avoid confrontation so socially she is a smart cookie but with her child...she needs to put her foot down more. Caroline is the "mama bear" but I don't recall reading about mama bear's son opening a strip club in my childhood storybook. Dina is quite self centered, so the only time viewers can really appreciate her screen time is when she is with her daughter and transfers the focus. Then there is the family friend, Teresa who is loud, aggressive, and the all around stereotypical Jersey girl. She's a stage mom to her daughter Gia (who is going to need a lot more acting classes if she wants to make it in Hollywood). Viewers watch her in her stage mom mode and her new house mode. Though Teresa may have all the money to build her dream house...she has no decorating taste. It hurts seeing such a beautiful house decorated in such a distasteful way. Lastly, there is Danielle who is Jacqueline's friend and her story line seems to bring the main drama to the show...being as how Caroline and Dina have it out for her since they have so much time on their hands apparently. This was quite unfortunate because their dislike for Danielle pretty much was the main focus in every episode, leaving not much room to see these housewives in their true housewife lifestyle. Unless drama is their lifestyle. If so, that is just sad. This drama is quite petty for grown adults so it's a bit pathetic to see these ladies ganging up on one. Aside from the drama...while this is an over-hyped also known as not a very accurate representation of the real housewives of New Jersey, this is very well edited and entertaining...this is good reality television. So reality TV junkies, this is a must see!

Bonus Feature:

Quiz: Are You a Real Jersey Girl?
- Viewers answer 10 questions to test if they are a real Jersey girl, however you have to pick the stereotypical answer for each question to be considered a "real" Jersey girl. I was born and raised in Jersey and my result was, "Have you even been to Jersey?"

Gossip Girl - The Empire Strikes Jack

Blair: Prostitutes are people too. And they have a lot of disposable income.

Maybe it was the music that opened this episode which set the exciting tone or I just really enjoyed this episode! Jenny working for Eleanor again was something I had always wanted to see because she works well in that environment and it is less time for her to spend trying to be Queen B. When Agnes (Willa Holland) reunited with Jenny, what a shock that was! "Let the drama ensue" were my first thoughts that came to mind. Then Agnes mentioned how she was sober and immediately I took those thoughts back. Well, we all know that your first choice is usually right and boy did Agnes bring the drama! Nate came to the rescue as usual and thanks to his caring and Jenny really trying to keep her head on straight, things look somewhat promising for this girl's future again. As for the real Queen B...Blair...
It's quite sad that Blair had to pay a prostitute to have friends show up at her mother's fashion show. Thankfully, Blair had a heart to heart with her mom and confessed that she had no friends. Though their relationship is much better than Chuck and his mother's. Chuck's mom playing him by taking over the company AND kicking him out...great writing! What makes it not so typical for this story line is that she believed she was in love with Jack when she signed the hotel to him as opposed to her just being plain evil to her son. Still heartbreaking for Chuck to see all that he has worked on get signed over to his enemy uncle. Hopefully Jack will get what's coming to him because he does not deserve any part in Bass industries. Getting back to Chuck's mom for a moment, It was incredibly stupid and uncalled for to tell Chuck that she was not his real mother. She could have just left town without a goodbye. Enough about them...I was actually interested in Vanessa & Dan this week! The past few weeks, seeing how they are trying to make their friendship a healthy relationship and not just a healthy best friendship...those two are so adorable. Serena's storyline was not at all furthered along which wasn't a disappointment and did you catch pregnant Dorota at the show? How far along is she? Overall, this was a great episode, though disheartening for Chuck, others had serious heart to hearts and the writing was just so balanced, so great.

Gossip Girl - Inglorious Bassterds

Gossip Girl: Every war has its weapons. But on the Upper East Side, the rules of battles are simple. There are no rules.

What another fabulous episode! Serena planning a surprise birthday party for Nate was quite fun, especially since Jenny didn't get to sabotage Serena’s plans as much as she would have liked. Why she would try to sabotage the plans instead of just seeing Nate happy is beyond me. Although it is better than trying to fix someone's life when didn't ask for help...just ask Blair. Chuck and Blair both trying to get back Chuck's hotel...what a powerful moment this turned out to be in the end for the two. For Blair to work with Jack to get back what was Chuck's while Chuck knew what was going on all along...I just wish for Blair that she could turn back time and just fall back. It cost her their relationship, at least for the time being. The break up scene has to be one of my favorite dramatic scenes on the show in quite some time! As for Dan and Vanessa, those two are so adorable together, I can hardly stand it. I wonder what will happen for their relationship if Vanessa does get accepted to the program she applied for and transfers. Hmm. Lastly, it was good to see Eric for a bit in this episode and congratulations are in order to Dorota for becoming engaged! That was nice to see, as she would say...so that her child doesn't grow up to become a bastard! Quite funny. Fabulous episode. I loved it, did you?

90210 - Clark Raving Mad

Mr. Cannon: I'm warning you, I have very high standards.

Naomi: They couldn't be too high or you'd be working in news and not bossing a bunch of wanna be kids around for what, twenty grand a year?

This was a great episode! Starting off with Liam...Liam finding out his stepfather is cheating on his mother and that she would be staying with him...there's something to make him and Naomi bond just a little bit more. But the bonding stops there once Liam finds out that Naomi framed The Blaze teacher for sexual harassment, something he didn't do! Naomi's bad behavior knows no bounds. That was incredibly wrong. Hopefully Liam, Adrianna, and Silver find out and get Naomi some help for her attention problem. Naomi needs to grow up. She is too smart to be playing these immature games. As for Ad and Silver...so proud that Adrianna told Naomi & Silver about Gia's crush on her and her feelings about it. It will be interesting to see not only Adrianna & Gia's friendship/relationship grow but Adrianna grow as an individual. As for Silver...well just want to mention first that Navid seems to be moving on quite well with his new buddy. That is all I will say about that. Silver seemed to be getting off on a good foot but then it happened...she got jealous. Silver getting quite jealous was understandable to an extent but just after Teddy & Silver talked things out and he gave her another chance, she got right back on the crazy train. Thankfully for her he took her back yet again! How many chances can one person get? For attempted suicide...unfortunately many succeed the first time and let's hope it doesn't come to that for Jasper. Jasper needs a psychiatrist. I'm unsure if Jasper was threatening suicide as part of his game and to make Annie feel guilty, or if he is genuinely feeling suicidal. Either way, it's quite disgusting to watch. As for the rest of the family...Dixon seems to be doing a lot better than Annie. Let's hope he doesn't spend the cash his mother gave him on frivolous things and quickly at that. Dixon's mom confronting Debbie about her kissing another man before she left was smart. Now hopefully Debbie will either think about her actions and stop or even better do that on top of confessing to her husband about what she has been doing and try to work things out. There is so much in store for every character, I cannot wait to see what happens in these last few episodes of the season because the build up to the finale has been incredible.

90210 - Sweaty Palms & Weak Knees

Adrianna: I'm still trying to figure this thing out.

Gia: Step one: stop calling it "this thing."

Great episode! When Dixon & Ivy walked in on the double date at the restaurant and announced that they were on a date...Naomi saying, "Dixon, you can do better" brought the hysterics! I could not stop laughing. Though Dixon & Ivy make an odd couple, I think this lie could actually turn into a real relationship and I think that would be refreshing to see since they don't seem all that compatible from first glance. Although none of this can happen if Ivy continues to be hung up on Liam. Though for the record, I'd rather see Liam with Ivy. Naomi plays too many games in and out of relationships and Liam deserves better. As for games...Jasper going into a psychiatric ward was a smart decision for the parents to make, though when his dad said Jasper wanted to see Annie before leaving...I was a bit worried he would threaten to tell the truth once in the ward. He claims his love for Annie will keep him from telling anybody but he is crazy, so who knows. Who knows what is best in this situation. Annie deserves to be punished for what she did but was Jasper's craziness punishment enough or no? Hmm...speaking of crazy...crazy in love...Teddy trying to impress Silver and getting to know her as much as she knows him was fun to see since Teddy is really putting forth the effort to know her and please her. I can say the same for Ad & Gia, especially getting after this rough patch of Ad deciding whether to go public or not. Gia getting angry at Adrianna for not wanting to be public about their relationship was understandable but at the same time, Gia needed to be patient since Ad is still trying to find her true sexuality/identity. Though now public, how will their relationship fair? Hopefully they won't face discrimination. They are near West Hollywood so I'd say not. But you never know. As for Adrianna's professional life, will Ad choose to be signed to Ivy's mom's record label or will she stay with her band? Saving the worst for last...just when Naomi was about to tell Liam the truth, she had to bring Jen into the conversation and with that, found out that Liam would not be with her if she was like Jen. And just like that, her lie continued on and made it to Harry. As principal, he has to take action...how far will this go? Naomi is messing with the career/life of a man so I will be very upset if the teacher goes down for Naomi's lie. Lastly, there seemed to be an absence of Navid in this episode so hopefully he will be in next week's episode. This was a great episode and I am looking forward to more great writing.

Melrose Place - Santa Fe

Amanda: Steal any paintings lately?

David: I have no idea what you're talking about. I own a restaurant.

After rooting for Ella for so long, it was good to see Ella putting together the pieces to the puzzle in regards to the loss of money from WPK. Now that Ella has found out that Amanda is embezzling from her own company, how will it affect her career with Amanda trying to place the blame on her? Ella cannot go down for this! Team Ella all the way. She does not deserve this and Amanda must be taken down so I am anticipating what comes next for this storyline the most. As for righting wrongs, congratulations Lauren for getting that horrible secret off her chest! It will be interesting to see how everyone treats her in the aftermath of this confession and what her relationship with David will be from hereon out, if there even is one. Lastly, Jonah & Drew fighting over Riley was kind of pathetic. Drew doesn't know her well enough to fight for her and Jonah needs to be fighting for Ella not Riley. I can understand the alcohol made Jonah more prone to arguments, but he needs to be dedicated to Ella now and let Riley live her life. So the main questions...what will Ella do to take down Amanda? Is Lauren's career as a doctor still at stake even though Michael saw her confess to her friends? What will David do about his leech of a friend with benefits? Why was Drew cutting open a dead body in secret? Will Riley & Jonah ever get back together?

Melrose Place - Sepulveda

Jonah: 2,000 big ones, that's awfully generous of you.

Ella: Oh, well you know how passionate I am about the environment.

Jonah: This is a fundraiser for a school program.

Ella: Whatever.

Lauren lending David a hand at the restaurant was much needed for David since he had to fire his chef and much needed for Lauren to win back David's trust/loyalty. Though this really is only the beginning for Lauren and I think David benefited more from Ella's help when pleasing the food critic who arrived. I was hoping that David helping Ella break into WPK would be painless, so I was relieved when they were not caught in the act. I was also thrilled when Ella told Jonah all about it because she wants an honest and open relationship. Score one for Ella. If you weren't a fan of hers before, this might persuade you to. So Riley's fundraiser went well and helped her get a step ahead but Jonah getting fired over casting creative differences took him a step back for a moment. Thankfully it only lasted for a moment. This can't be the only bump in the road while filming, so expecting more drama in that department. Lastly, Drew warning Lauren about what was going on at the hospital is another reason for Lauren to either get out of that hospital or spin things to take Michael down. While I don't encourage the latter as she just needs to move on, who knows what we should expect. The past few episodes have been really good. Just when I thought I was about to become less interested in these characters or moreso the situations they put themselves in, I have been reeled back in and loving every moment.

V - Welcome to the War

Erica: Have you looked in the sky lately? They are here to annihilate us.

Good episode! After being attacked by a visitor in her home with her son on board a ship, things became much more personal for Erica. What was very creepy was Erica being told that as long as Tyler was a guest on the ship, she had nothing to fear. Will Erica's actions serve as a consequence for both Erica and Tyler? What exactly is Lisa's destiny? Will it affect just Tyler, Tyler & Erica, or will it affect people on an even bigger level? In the meantime, we do know that Erica wants Hobbs, a criminal to help him in the resistance and that is fine with me. Let's see what good he will do. On board the ship...Anna weeding out those involved in the resistance, having sex with a V to build an army (and then eating the V after sex) and with Jack on board to get healed... well, it all makes me cringe and anticipate the next step and the lengths everyone will go for their mission. Hey, this is titled, "Welcome to the War" so there is lots to look forward to.

V - Pound of Flesh

Georgie: Long live the Fifth Column!

There was quite a lot going on in this episode...so much I feel like a lot went over my head so I will have to re-watch this episode. My main focus was on Ryan and Erica. Ryan going on board ship by himself knowing it was a suicide mission was incredibly brave and it actually worked for his benefit. Not only did Ryan get what he needed to save his pregnant wife but he met 2 visitors on board who were part of the resistance! While I'm glad too see more members of the resistance, the fifth column, I'm concerned about when Ryan will tell his wife that she is pregnant with an alien. I'm also concerned about Georgie's well being after trying to save Ryan on board the ship. As for Erica, it was interesting to see her drop Tyler off at her ex's because it was made out to seem like knowing why they split up was significant. is it significant or is that just family tension that they felt the need to add to the show? There's enough tension between Erica and Tyler so I hope that's not the reason. Anyway, as I said before, a lot occurred in this episode so it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

Ugly Betty - London Calling

Betty: I don;t generally do these things often, or ever.

This was quite an entertaining episode! Betty couldn't have tied in work and her personal life any better by going to cover London Fashion Week and host Hilda's bachelorette party in London as well. Having Ashley Jensen back as Christina was so much fun to see! It is so good to see Christina doing so well for herself since leaving Mode. As for Betty doing business, she was quite fortunate to get a job proposal while overseas. She was even more fortunate to come to terms with her success so far and decline the offer so that she doesn't continue to be comfortable in fashion. As for the bachelorette party, Betty's fun wasn't so fun when she found herself flashing Gio and later that night found out that he was engaged. There's nothing like bumping into an ex you could have had a great life with and finding out that he is engaged. From one ex to another...Betty's drunk call to Henry asking him to be her date to Hilda's wedding will no doubt bring Henry back to New York, so it will quite a thrill to catch up with him! Back at home...Justin trying to bond with Austin and Bobby trying to bond with Justin was quite exhausting and frustrating to watch until the very end since it all just seemed to be really bad timing for bonding on all fronts. Once the end of the episode came around, in Bobby's last attempt to bond before not trying so hard, he ended up catching Justin kissing Austin. Will Bobby keep this secret? How will it affect his relationship with Justin? From one bonding experience to another, Wilhelmina crashing Tyler's AA meeting to bond as part of her scheme to take over Meade was clever but cruel. Putting Tyler against Claire & Daniel and Daniel against Tyler was harsh but was definitely working in Willie's favor. Well, that is until Tyler announced he would fight for his part of Meade. Will she truly support him, support him and then steal from him, or take him down before he has the chance to fight? Ah, the anticipation! Lastly, Amanda planning to quit Mode to become a real stylist was quite the shocker! Hopefully she is really prepared to take this step as it is incredibly exciting to know that she is moving on to bigger and better things.

Ugly Betty - The Past Presents the Future

Hilda: This is the happiest day of my life! Alright, let's do this bitch.

It's hard to believe this is the second to last episode of the series. I don't want to believe it I should say. But what a heartwarming ending. How nice though not quite fitting for Betty to ask Daniel to go to Hilda's wedding with her. Thankfully Henry showed up and was her date while Daniel took his dumb girlfriend. With Henry's relocation to the city announcement, things definitely look good for him and Betty - at least as good friends. Like Daniel, I don't want to see Betty hurt again. Though Daniel should have never gave Henry a bad job recommendation, so thankfully he called back and gave a good one. Otherwise, that would have been incredibly invasive in Betty's personal life. It all seemed to work out though as Daniel and Betty did go together. They both dropped their baggage. As for little Suarez...Justin having a true heart to heart with Marc, well, it felt so right in a mission accomplished kind of way since the build up to this conversation had been going on for a bit. Unfortunately, Bobby is not good at keeping secretive about secrets and Hilda found out that Justin was dating Austin. Thankfully though and that is an understatement, Marc stopped the Suarez family from hosting a "coming out" party for him. His silent coming out at the wedding reception was just right. Now Amanda trying to fix Marc up with her new client was a nice move but as it seems he is actually Amanda's father...I don't think Amanda would want her best friend dating her father! I'm wondering how Marc will tell her about him. Hmm. Back to the Suarez family for a moment, Elena coming back for Hilda's wedding was so fitting! I am so glad that many of the essential characters from past episodes were able to come back for the end. The wedding was gorgeous and it was such a touching moment to see Hilda & Bobby say their "I dos" as Hilda has come so far since the beginning. It feels so good to see her so happy. Going from such a high to quite a low...Tyler demanding shares of Meade while drunk was not a smart idea since he was just Willie's pawn. Things turned serious when Tyler grabbed Willie's gun! Willie knows when to play games and when to be serious, so thankfully she went straight to Claire to warn her. Willie can't die in the series finale, that would be beyond cruel. I wonder how it will all end! The wait is killing me! This was such a wonderful episode. The writing was fantastic, the acting was superb as usual, everything was perfect and I have a feeling the ending will be to. Looking forward to it.

Vampire Diaries - There Goes the Neighborhood

Jeremy: I want you to turn me.

This show just keeps getting better and better. I was concerned that the return of Anna & Pearl would make things a bit lackluster and things would drag on but boy was I wrong! Pearl offering Katherine to Damon if he helps her take back what was theirs was a very bright bargain and would have worked had Pearl been more alive and kicking in the beginning of the season. What is so great about the situation is that while we are made to think Damon is completely over Katherine…surely anything can happen. So that explains why Pearl is still playing the nice girl. Although my only concern is that Pearl wants the vampires to take over the town. That definitely would not work. Of course it is understandable if she wants her home, her land back but the compromise ends there. And with that comes concern as to how they will survive…would they be willing to be vegetarians so to speak and not just use the blood for the hospital right now while they are keeping a low profile? Speaking of low profile…well, now that Jeremy knows Anna is a vampire, she sucked his blood, and he thought about all that has happened for a bit...I have to say he hasn't thought through enough his decision to ask Anna to turn him. Regardless, it will be quite interesting to see how long it takes for Anna to turn him if she agrees. Although I don’t know how I feel about Jeremy possibly being turned before Elena. Anyway, there was not quite a lot going on with Elena and Stefan in this episode…as they spent more time on a double date with Caroline & Matt than alone together. Caroline definitely needs to move past Matt and Elena’s past relationship. Her being envious of what those two had is completely understandable but there comes a point where your self-confidence and trust in your boyfriend outweighs what happened in the past. Besides, her situation is much less disturbing than Matt’s being as how he caught his mother making out with Damon. Ahh Damon, can’t live with him, can’t live without him.

Vampire Diaries - Let the Right One In

Jeremy: You should turn me because I don't have anything else.

Here’s another fantastic episode. With Stefan held captive by the vampires from the cave, Damon, Elena, and Alaric attempt to save him and what a thrilling watch this was. It was quite a powerful moment when Elena fed Stefan her blood. Since I haven't read the books I have no idea if Elena is turned into a vampire...so to me this scene is somewhat pushing along that possibility. Would Elena be placed in a situation where she is near death and the only other option is to be turned or is that too clichĂ©? Not so clichĂ© is Jeremy possibly being turned by Anna before Elena is possibly turned by Stefan. Has Anna agreed to turn Jeremy just because her mother disapproves of the two being friends? She definitely needs to think more about her decision when her emotions aren’t running high. Both Anna and Jeremy need to think about the decision. Speaking of decisions…Matt & Kelly will have to make a lot of decision about the funeral they will be planning for Vicki since Caroline discovered her body while her car broke down. The vamps need to figure out how they can make sure Vicki’s case does not lead anybody to them. There are a lot of decisions that need to be made and the end of the season is nearing, so there’s only a matter of time to find out the positive and negative effects of everyone’s decisions. This was a very well written episode and I look forward to more.

Flash Forward - Better Angels

Simon: Going into Somalia without a gun is like scuba diving without an oxygen tank.

If there was one episode I had to choose to deem, “the most disturbing” it would be this episode. Demetri, Janis, Simon, and Vogel head to Somalia aka death land to search for clues but ended up in an incredibly dangerous predicament! Even though I knew none of the main characters would be shot and killed, my heart was still racing as the main leader of the area they visited was on a roll with his gun…that is until Janis shed some light on his flash forward and helped him see that he would bring the country to peace instead of to war. Hopefully more will be shared in regards to the video D Gibbons left for Demetri. Side note, will Janice become pregnant with Demetri's child and if so, how will that affect things on the work force and personally? There was also more light shed on Charlie’s flash forward, which interestingly enough coincided with Vogel’s flash forward. Will Mark indeed die? Is Vogel on Mark’s side and was just numb to the news or was he on the other side in the flash forward? He didn’t seem too sympathetic about the call in the flash forward. What a heartbreaking flash forward for Charlie. Thankfully she didn’t actually see her father’s death. The little one would have needed a therapist for quite some time. Though if Olivia & Mark actually follow through with Olivia’s desire to move out of town…will Mark’s possible death still happen at the moment seen in the flash forwards? Will Mark go on the Mosaic website to try to find out more about his death? Lastly and speaking of death, since Bryce told Nicole that he might not be around in 12 years, where does their friendship stand? Will Nicole go the extra mile and try to help him survive? Or will her own flash forward prevent her from helping him since she will be consumed with helping herself?

Flash Forward - Queen Sacrifice

Vogel: Don't forget who your friends are.

Mark: What's unacceptable is that one of them is my enemy.

This was a good episode but I find myself in an Olivia withdrawal for some reason. There just isn’t as much screen time as there used to be for this character and there is quite an ensemble… so I can’t expect nor do I want her to be the major focus…but I miss her story line being furthered along. Anyway, getting into the episode…knowing that D Gibbons has had hundreds of flash forwards and dies on the 15th is quite astonishing. Who else has had numerous flash forwards since the early 90s? Who else is D Gibbons working with and why? Does D Gibbons have any relation to the mole at the FBI, Janice, & Simon? Speaking of the mole…who else are those moles spying on besides Mark? No wonder Mark dies, he already has so many people riding his case. Lastly, I am not very intrigued by the storyline of Keiko searching in Los Angeles for Bryce. I actually forgot about it, so I was not pleased when a majority of the episode followed up on the story line. If there is any story line to hurry up and get to its destination, I would like it to be this one so that the show can focus on more entertaining and thrilling flash forwards.
