Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s challenge is Top Ten Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show (in a perfect world where the movies are adapted exactly like we want, if not, better than we ever could have imagined). It was difficult to narrow this down but I did manage to cut it down to ten. Here are my picks:

TV Adaptations

1. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Can we just take a minute to mourn the Pilot that Fox decided not to order to series? A moment…

2. Legend by Marie Lu
Although what I’m thinking in my head is probably not what you’re thinking. I see the characters as 17/18 and the show on HBO or Showtime for the tension and violence and relationships to be tested in ways that can’t be portrayed on primetime. Nothing crazy here but I think this would rock on cable!

3. Starters by Lissa Price
If you liked Dollhouse, you’d love this as a TV series.

4. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
I am giddy just envisioning a television series of this book series. I could so see this on NBC as a reward for the Heroes fans who stayed until the end or on CBS as a peace offering for ending Jericho. Now that I think about it, I think it would be better on CBS. They are very friendly when it comes to shows that have characters with special gifts.

5. Sylo by DJ MacHale
I think this would be a phenomenal mini series. Bring aboard the guys who did Harper’s Island and I think we’ve got a winner.

Movie Adaptations

6. Pendragon by DJ MacHale
My life would be complete if there were 10 Pendragon movies. WHAT. Steven Spielberg and David Yates to name a few directors?

7. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Because we’d get not just one movie but four compact movies! Ahh! J.J. Abrams directing.

8. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black
Vampires done right. Enough said. David Fincher or Steven Soderbergh directing.

9. This is Not A Test by Courtney Summers
This book gutted me. I need this to be rated R and come out like yesterday. Christopher Nolan writing and directing. Ah.

10. Paranormalcy by Kiersten White
Now wouldn’t this be a fun film to see? Maybe Edgar Wright directing and Joss Whedon writing. Oh my God, how crazy would that be?!

  1. Oohh.. Legend is a good one! That would make an awesome tv series or movie– I'd take either! I've heard such good things about The Darkest Minds!!! I also have yet to read Cinder!!

  2. Kiera Cass writing for Hart of Dixie… that certainly would be interesting! 😀

I was also pretty sad they didn't decided to do the Delirium show… but to be honest I wasn't a fan of their casting choices… so maybe it's for the best?

    Great list!

  3. Well, once a network passes on a Pilot, it's rare for a show to get picked up elsewhere. Pretty sure the Delirium Pilot isn't being shopped around but it's nice to dream! 🙂

  4. I totally wanted Delirium to get picked up! All the set photos looked awesome…plus maybe we could have gotten more story! I'm currently reading The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and could totally see it as a movie. Great list 🙂

  5. I loved that you had ideas on who would best direct/write the movies adaptations. My knowledge of such things isn't enough to have an actual opinion. There were a number of books on your list that I haven't read/heard of. But I am going to change that.

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Your extra top ten list was really cool! Just added This Is Not A Test to my TBR pile. Thanks! And I liked the casting in Delirium but I haven't read the books so maybe it is good they canceled it. They should try again though!

  7. I wasn't a big fan of Delirium, but I can see it actually working better as a TV show. That's too bad about the pilot 🙁

Cinder definitely would be awesome to see in a visual medium. At times I had difficulty imagining what things looked like so I think it would be interesting to see it adapted to the big screen.

PLEASE I totally want a Paranormalcy movie written by Joss Whedon. Great idea!!

I loved your authors you'd like to see write for TV list. So spot on!!

Thanks for stopping by my TTT post earlier. Have a great week!

  8. Wait… they're not making a TV show out of Delirium? But the book was so great! Plus, making a mini series out of SYLO would be incredible. I reviewed that book on my blog, and I thought that it was pretty good, but it would be even better on film.
Great list! Check out mine: http://booksavvyblog.blogspot.com/

  9. I didn't even know Delirium had been signed for a TV show at all!? And now I'm sad that we won't ever see it 🙁
    Cinder would also be great!!
